Another of Taylor Swift’s longtime friendships is ‘strained’ as pal is left ‘peeved’ over album slight

Everything has changed, indeed.

Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran’s longtime friendship is “strained” after the release of their respective albums, “Play” and “The Life of a Showgirl.“

Despite once dubbing him a “second brother,” Swift reportedly didn’t let Sheeran know she would be releasing her 12th album just three weeks after his.

The “Perfect” singer, 34, released his eighth album on Sept. 12, while Swift released “LOAS” on Oct. 3.

A music industry insider told the Daily Mail on Thursday, “Ed takes these things really seriously, and carefully plans his album releases. He announced his album with four months’ notice, but then Taylor announced hers for just two weeks after.”

As a consequence, “it left his team scrabbling to get as much attention before hers dropped.”

“He was very much put out and understandably peeved,” the insider alleged. “It is not the first time that Taylor has done something like this. She’s got form.”

Although Sheeran’s album initially debuted at No. 1 on the charts during the week of its release, it quickly fell out of the Top 10 when “The Life of a Showgirl” came out.

The “Shape of You” singer — who has collaborated on many tracks with Swift — previously spoke about how he times his album releases.

He told the BBC in 2017 about the release of his album “÷ (Divide)” at the time, “Everyone I was scared of releasing albums around me released them all last year – people like Beyonce and The Weeknd and Bruno Mars. 

“‘Taylor isn’t going to be releasing until probably the end of this year — Christmas is the smartest time to release because that’s when everyone buys records.”

Page Six has reached out to reps for both singers, but did not hear back at the time of publication.

This latest reported update on their friendship comes weeks after Sheeran confessed he learned about the “Fate of Ophelia” singer’s engagement to Travis Kelce.

While talking to Andy Cohen during his SiriusXM Small Stage Series concert, he was asked how he found out about the Kansas City Chiefs player dropping to one knee.

“Instagram,” he simply said during the August interview before confirming that he “didn’t even get a DM in advance.”

During an October interview, Swift admitted to the slight, saying she had “a perfect explanation.”

She told Jimmy Fallon, “He doesn’t have a phone. And this is one thing I love about him. It’s very eccentric. Love it. But when I’m going through saying, ‘Hey, who should we call? Who should we FaceTime?’ I’m going through my texts and being like, ‘Who have I texted within the last like, month of my life?’”

Then, the “Wood” singer said he wasn’t there because she could only “email him” — and he has to find an iPad to set up a FaceTime call.

“This is one of my absolute favorite people on the planet,” Swift insisted, suggesting there’s no bad blood between them. “Then, when the news came out, I was like, ‘Oh my God we forgot to call Ed! Oh no!’”

She continued, “He’s like family. I love him. But he doesn’t have a phone!”

The two have been friends since 2012, when they collaborated on her “Everything Has Changed” song for her “Red” album.

Swift has also recently distanced herself from her long-time friend, Blake Lively, amid the actress’ legal battle with Justin Baldoni.

Page Six reported on Thursday that Swift has had “no contact” with the “It Ends With Us” actress despite rumors of a low-key reunion.

The two, who were frequently photographed together, have not spoken or seen each other — though a timeline is unclear.
