While it certainly wasn’t a comedy, filming Twilight didn’t come without some hilarious moments.

Ashley Greene, who played Alice Cullen in the Twilight series, says that one of her favorite memories from filming came when producers tried to take the cast’s phones.

“It makes me laugh when they tried to take away our phones — like that was gonna happen,” Greene said during a recent panel discussion with her castmates at MegaCon in Orlando.

“I think that was the … the second one? Third one?” Greene, 37, added, implying that it wasn’t until the cast filmed the second installment in the series — New Moon, released in 2009 — that producers attempted to take their phones from them.

Greene added that she and her costar Peter Facinelli (who played the role of Carlisle Cullen) also got in trouble on set for playing with a doll made to look like Kristen Stewart’s character, Bella Swan.

“It was life-sized,” Facinelli, 51, noted, adding: “We were walking backstage and they were shooting on stage and we had to wait till their scene was over. And all of a sudden, I bumped into this table and there’s a life-sized Kirsten Stewart laying on the table. They made a doll for when she breaks her neck … do they call it a doll? A cadaver? You know, like a mannequin, but it looked exactly like her.”

He continued: “So then we were laughing and we were taking selfies and picking her nose licking her ears — we were gonna show it to her later and then security saw us.”

Ultimately, Facinelli said that producers made both him and Greene remove the photos from their phones over fears that if they were hacked, photos spoiling the plot point could be leaked.

“So we got in trouble,” Facinelli added.

Facinelli and Greene were joined by Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen) and Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale) to share set memories and ruminate on the series’ impact years later at MegaCon, which took place more than a decade after the premiere of the final film in the four-part saga, 2012’s Breaking Dawn — Part 2. The first film came out in 2008.

Elsewhere in the panel, Facinelli shared another funny moment that took place on set between him and Robert Pattinson, who played Edward Cullen.

Describing a scene in which Carlisle bites Pattinson’s Edward, turning him into a vampire, Facinelli said, “I leaned in the first time, on the first take, and said, ‘I’m sorry.’ ‘Cause I felt like Carlisle didn’t really ask for permission — you should always ask for permission.”

“But on the second take, I leaned in and said, ‘Rob, you’re so handsome,’ ” Facinelli continued. “And then he smiled a little bit. And that’s the take that’s in the movie.”
