Arie Luyendyk Jr has changed his mind about getting a vasectomy and has since gone forward with a reversal procedure.
The season 22 star of The Bachelor and his wife Lauren Burnham took to YouTube to make the announcement on Thursday, more than three years after they thought they were done growing their family.
‘Hi guys, we are about to do something insane,’ wife Lauren Burnham, 33, said off the top of the clip. ‘Well I am,’ the reality star chimed in as they couple smiled and laughed.
‘We said we were done having kids, like, a couple years ago, but I think we’re gonna do it one more time,’ the fellow Bachelor alum explained. ‘That sounded funny, like, “We’re only going to do it one time.”‘
The couple, who have been married since January 2019, are already proud parents to three children: daughter Alessi, five, and twins Senna and Lux, three.
The professional auto racing driver, 43, continued, ‘As you guys know, I got the vasectomy after the twins were born and ever since then, I don’t know, I think I rushed it,’ he admitted, before adding, ‘Honestly, it’s more on me.’

Luyendyk also shared a couple of images from the video on Instagram where they declared: ‘Been keeping this a secret for a while! We are excited to share the news. Growing out family!’
In the 3:37 video, Burnham revealed how her husband scheduled a vasectomy six months after their twins were born in June 2021 without consulting her first.
But shortly after, she got ‘on board’ with his decision, and then Luyendyk moved forward with the procedure.
The Netherlands native, who immigrated with his family to the US at age three, went on to disclose the moment he realized he regretted his decision to get a vasectomy.
‘All of our kids are like, the best age right now, and I just felt like, “Dang it, I think we can do this again,”‘ he admitted. ‘If we had a singleton, we could totally handle that.’
It has taken some time, but The Bachelor, season 22 runner-up confessed she’s now coming around on the idea of growing their family once again.
‘He totally convinced me that, like, chapter’s closed and I came to terms with that, and now, I have to just get out of that again,’ she said while leaning her left arm on her husband.
‘A little bit of whiplash,’ Luyendyk joked, to which his wife said with a laugh, ‘Yeah, so I’m getting there. Arie’s totally there. I’m getting there. But, yeah, we’re going to do it again.’

The clip also shows some images of the father of two getting prepared for the vasectomy reversal, some of which were taken in the hospital.
According to Mayo Clinic, almost all vasectomies can be reversed, but that ‘doesn’t guarantee success in conceiving a child.’
It turns out, the longer it has been since going through with the procedure, the less likely it is that the reversal will work.
The Indy Lights Series driver first revealed his plan to get a vasectomy in October 2021 after a ‘difficult’ trip with three kids under three during an episode of The Ben and Ashley I. Almost Famous Podcast.
‘We just felt a little bit, like, overwhelmed,’ he recalled of the family vacation. ‘We decided as a couple that three is enough. I think we’re so happy because we have our boy, we have the two girls. And I’m already 40, guys — I can’t be having kids any later than this in life.’

The duo ended up documenting the procedure some three months later, in January 2022, in a 16-minute video YouTube video.
He would go on to compare the surgery to ‘being kicked in the nuts as hard as someone could kick you.’
Luyendyk and Burnham met on The Bachelor in 2018 but he got engaged to season 22 winner Becca Kufrin.
But then, after ending their relationship in front of cameras, he sparked up a romance with Burnham, and they were married about a year later.
