TV host Clive Myrie has revealed that he has “no regrets” about a significant life choice he made with his wife Catherine.

The couple, who reportedly met in 1992 at a Swiss cheese book launch, decided to prioritise travelling the world over starting a family of their own.

Speaking on the Desperately Seeking Wisdom podcast, Clive, 59, shared: “We’ve come from bigger families. I’m from a family of seven. And Catherine’s from a family of five kids. We weren’t desperate for that kind of familial glue. Something that I’d always wanted to do was travel the world.”

Clive also drew parallels between their decision and his parents’ journey from Jamaica to the UK, leaving their children behind until they could reunite. Despite coming from large families, Clive insists he doesn’t regret not having children of his own.

He added: “No, no, funnily enough, absolutely not,” when asked if he had any regrets. “I’m very, very okay with it. Now, I mean, you know, 10 and 15 years ago, but yeah, we have a hell of a lot of nieces and nephews and that.”, reports the Daily Record.

Clive reveals his parents initially pushed for him to land a “proper job” in something like law, which led him to study the subject at uni. However, he chose to pursue a career in journalism instead, becoming the face of News at 10 and taking over as the host of Mastermind since 2021.

Tonight, Clive came under fire by viewers who claimed his choice of outfit was not fitting for BBC Proms. The presenter of Mastermind, 59, hosted the coveted event at the Royal Albert Hall alongside Sandi Toksvig, for the opening of BBC Proms.

And while fans were enamoured by the content of the show, his wardrobe choice appeared to distract their viewing. Fans joked that he clearly got the wrong memo, after he proudly donned a red neckerchief, a yellow shirt and a black suit. He then completed his look with a pair of yellow trainers.

And viewers were far from impressed. Taking to X to voice their opinions, one fan wrote: “What is Clive Myrie wearing on the Proms. Looks like he got the wrong memo and thought he was presenting Glastonbury.” Another said: “Clive Myrie doing this dressed as Harry H Corbett in Steptoe and Son? #BBCProms.” Meanwhile a third person joked: “Clive Myrie looks like he should be driving a team train whilst waving cheerily to the Famous Five as they set off on an adventure. #BBCProms.”
