Becca Tilley Says She ‘Can Finally Sleep at Night’ After Awkward 2016 Meeting With Laurie Hernandez

Bachelor Nation alum Becca Tilley learned firsthand that the second time’s the charm when it came to meeting Olympian Laurie Hernandez.
“So, remember back in 2016 at the heart festival where I indulged too much and ended up horizontal on the bathroom floor?” Tilley, 36, recalled in a Wednesday, February 19, Instagram Story post. “Well, my final memory of the night, while I was still vertical, was me following @lauriehernandez around telling [her] thank you for representing America so well at the Olympics.”
According to Tilley, “it was very important” that she shared her “gratitude” with Hernandez, now 24, directly.
“Anyways, I’ve carried this haunting memory for nine years. She was probably 16 at the time,” Tilley added. “Always, now we get to work together all year and I’m obsessed with her.”
She continued, “When I vulnerably shared this with her, she (allegedly) didn’t remember and I can finally sleep at night.”
Tilley also uploaded a photo of the two women walking on a sidewalk during their recent reunion.
“I recently went to Seattle for the very first time, and since I’m working with Starbucks, I got to go to the headquarters and it was such a cool experience,” Tilley narrated a Wednesday TikTok video. “We went on a tour, where we got to learn about their coffee and where it comes from and do a little tasting.”
In one clip, Tilley tied Hernandez’s apron before they walked around the test kitchen.
“I just have to say how excited I am to be joining the Starbucks Ambassadors this year because it is the most amazing group of people,” the “Scrubbing In” podcast host gushed. “We had the best time … and I cannot wait to do it again.”
Tilley and Hernandez had both attended the iHeartRadio music festival in 2016. At the time, the gymnast attended with her Dancing With the Stars partner Val Chmerkovskiy.
Hernandez had competed in the Rio Olympics months before joining — and winning — DWTS season 23.
“I do want to inspire others and that’s my goal, every day,” Hernandez exclusively told Us Weekly in November 2016 of her ballroom victory. “And because of Val, he’s taught me that it’s a good thing to go out and feel that pressure and have that responsibility.”
Hernandez retired from competitive gymnastics in 2021 and now works as a sportscaster during Olympic meets. She also attends New York University’s theater program.
“I love being able to act and work with scene partners,” Hernandez told Us in June 2024. “It’s a very different style of art than live performance theater or gymnastics, but still in that similar breath where the pressure’s on, it’s live, people are watching, but you’re also working for something and you get to show the fruits of that labor at some point.”
