Bethenny Frankel sounds off on Skims’ viral hairy underwear

Bethenny Frankel is just as confused as the rest of the internet by Kim Kardashian’s latest product launch.
The “Real Housewives of New York City” alum added her two cents to the discourse about Kardashian’s latest Skims collection, “The Ultimate Bush,” with a savage take on the fashion mogul’s questionable marketing campaign for a new product called the Faux Hair Panty.
“The Skims bush underwear are taking me back to the Gwyneth Paltrow Goop Candle ‘This candle smells like my vagina.’ That candle on its worst day did not smell like Gwyneth Paltrow’s vagina on its best day. I stand by that,” Frankel said via Instagram on Wednesday.
Frankel, 54, opined in an Instagram video, “I think maybe she should’ve done, ‘These underwear smell like my bush.’ Maybe that would’ve take[n] it to the next level. I would understand it. But it just says that in marketing, anything goes.”
She continued, “Nevertheless, it’s a clickbait, shocking, marketing idea. I just don’t actually understand it. What was the R and D [research and development]? Like, whose bush was it modeled after? And, can’t we just grow bushes now?”
The woman has a point.
“Everyone’s mad at Sydney Sweeney for being pretty and selling jeans,” Frankel added, referencing Sweeney’s controversial American Eagle ad. “But it’s okay to just sell the bush. We’re in the upside down,” she proclaimed, referencing the twisted reality depicted in the Netflix series, “Stranger Things.”
Frankel herself is a seasoned entrepreneur; she sold her Skinny Girl Margarita company in 2011 for a reported $120 million payday. Sharing business advice, she told her 4 million followers, “sell whatever the f–k you want.”
The “Kardashians” star, 44, unveiled the new product on Tuesday. The “Ultimate Bush” collection features barely-there thongs with a variety of hair textures and shades attached to the front. The product’s tagline is “With our daring new Faux Hair Panty, your carpet can be whatever color you want it to be.”
An accompanying promotional video, a 1970s-themed game show called “Does the Carpet Match the Drapes,” sent shockwaves across the internet.
Of course, it didn’t take long for fans to express their confusion with the serial entrepreneur’s move into merkin-territory.
“I’m calling 911,” wrote one follower, while another joked, “I just googled the date to make sure it’s not April 1st.”
“Who asked for this???” and “@kimkardashian are you ok?” said a third netizen.
Skims’ Faux Hair panties are currently available for purchase for $32 each.
