Brandon Blackstock’s cause of death confirmed
Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock’s cause of death has been confirmed as melanoma, the most aggressive form of skin cancer.
The manner of death was natural.
The talent manager “passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana, on Aug. 7 under hospice care surrounded by his family,” Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis told People on Monday.
He was 48.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” a family spokesperson told Page Six last week, adding that he privately and “bravely battled cancer for more than three years.
“He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family,” the statement continued.
“We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
Despite their contentious split, Clarkson, 43, was still there for Blackstock as his health declined.
The day before he died, the singer announced that she had to cancel the remaining August dates of her Las Vegas residency because her ex-husband was “ill” and she needed to be “fully present” for their kids: daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9.
The former couple’s last red carpet appearance together was in January 2020 for the Critics’ Choice Awards. Clarkson filed for divorce five months later.
Blackstock was married to his first wife, Melissa Ashworth, from 2001 to 2012.
Together, they welcomed daughter Savannah Lee — who is pregnant with her second child — and son Seth Blackstock.
