British rapper passes out mid-show while suspended from ceiling
Dropping beats.
Pete Bowditch, one half of the British rap duo Pete & Bas, passed out mid-concert and was left dangling from the ceiling during a recent show.
The startling incident reportedly took place in Chicago on Monday night, according to Jam Press, and a video shared to the pair’s Instagram page showed the elderly hip-hop artist performing a track while suspended in a harness above the stage.
But Bowditch lost consciousness mid-song and passed out while the stunned crowd watched on.
The footage of the incident showed Bowditch’s head slump forward as his arms fell to his side and his microphone crashed down to the stage below.
Three dancers beneath the rapper, meanwhile, continued performing as Bowditch hung just a few feet above their heads.
Both Bowditch and his hip-hop partner, Basil Bellgrave, took to social media after the scary incident to reassure their more than two million followers that Bowditch was okay.
“Update from management: We would like to apologise for last night’s show, the good news is Pete is now in a stable condition,” the pair’s team wrote on Instagram on Tuesday.
“We’ll be issuing refunds to all ticket holders,” they added. “All current European tour dates will still be going ahead.”
Pete & Bas didn’t immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Bowditch’s passion for rap began in 2017 when his granddaughter would play hip-hop music in his car, according to BBC News.
He went on to ask his longtime friend Bellgrave to embark with him on a music career as Pete & Bas, and the duo has since released nearly 40 singles.
“Shut Ya Mouth,” which they released on YouTube in 2017, went viral.
Beyond launching several tours and amassing millions of fans on social media, Pete & Bas have also collaborated with hip-hop icon T-Pain.
