Bryant Gumbel is going to be alright after the medical scare that saw him rushed from his Manhattan apartment to the hospital last week.

“He’s not dying,” a source familiar with his emergency told Page Six, “He’s expected to recover.”

TMZ reported that the former “Today” host, 77, got into medical difficulties around 9 p.m. on October 20.

Sources told the outlet he had been taken on a gurney and had remained at the hospital, as of Wednesday.

A family member also told the outlet he was doing “OK.”

It’s unclear if Gumbel has returned home, but our source told us it was looking likely that he would have been discharged on Thursday.

The family has also not revealed what led him to seek medical attention and we’re told very few people know. “They’re being extremely tight-lipped about it,” the source said.

Gumbel’s wife, Hilary, did not respond to our requests for comment.

Gumbel was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2009, forcing him to undergo surgery to remove a tumor from his lung. He appeared on “Live With Regis and Kelly” that same year, where he insisted, “It’s nothing to hide from.”

“They opened up my chest, they took a malignant tumor and they took part of my lung and they took some other goodies,” he said.

The four-time Emmy winner anchored the “Today” show for 15 years before exiting NBC’s flagship morning show for good in 1997. He hosted HBO’s “Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel” for 28 years before retiring in 2023.
