Caitlin Clark stuns in plunging Prada gown and diamonds at Time dinner
A feat worth celebrating.
After being named Time magazine’s 2024 Athlete of the Year on Tuesday, basketball star Caitlin Clark, 22, attended the A Year in Time dinner in New York City last night in a sultry look.
Styled by Adri Zgirdea, Clark looked breathtaking in a custom Prada gown with a dramatic plunging neckline and dazzling flower-shaped jeweled straps.
The head-turning number a version of the luxury label’s embroidered sablé minidress ($4,300), altered to graze the floor.
The WNBA player added a Prada’s eternal gold snake bracelet, which retails for a whopping $67,000, with a matching $18,500 ring.
“oh she’s flexing tonight i love it. wearing the haters’ salary on her wrist,” one person tweeted while another pointed out that, “She’s basically wearing her salary 😭.”
Indeed, the superstar signed a four-year contract with the Indiana Fever for $338,000 — with a base salary of just over $76,500 in 2024 — when she was chosen as the No. 1 all around WNBA draft pick, sparking outrage about the low number.
However, she quickly signed a $28 million endorsement deal with Nike amid the outcry and has become one of the top 10 highest-paid female athletes in the world.
Clark has an extra-special connection to Prada, which was born in April when she made fashion history by becoming the first athlete the Italian fashion house has dressed — male or female — for the NBA or WNBA Draft.
The athlete strut her stuff in a white skirt with a matching shirt, layered atop a rhinestone mesh crop top and paired with sleek sunglasses and slingback pumps.
On Wednesday night, proud parents Brent and Anne Clark posed with their daughter on the red carpet at the Time event as she held up her cover of the magazine.
In the photoshoot, Clark showed off her toned abs in a Nike sports bra and low-rise Emporio Armani trousers from the brand’s autumn/winter 2024 Men’s collection, adding white Nike sneakers, of course.
A fun tidbit of info? The photographer, Cass Bird, shared that the bottoms were actually borrowed from her fiancée, fashion icon and “Real Housewives of New York” star Jenna Lyons.
“🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥obsessed,” Lyons commented on her partner’s post.
An enthusiastic fan gushed, “Jenna’s pants!?!?! I’m freaking out 😍😍😍😍😍😍”
Clark rose to fame this year after an incredible rookie season playing for the Indiana Fever.
Prior to joining the WNBA, the record-breaking athlete attended Iowa, where she had a stellar college basketball career. Inside the Time interview, she discussed everything from white privilege and her “rivalry” with fellow rookie Angel Reese to hanging out with Taylor Swift.
Her future as a top WNBA star (and model, perhaps?) is looking good.
