Calvin Harris has nothing against Miley Cyrus.

After the Scottish DJ and musician, 41, teased a new song called “Ocean” with vocals from Cyrus, 32, last year, he shared a preview clip of a new version of the track via social media on Sunday, Aug. 17 featuring singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez instead of the “Flowers” performer.

“We were dancing, we were wild in the ocean / Love the way you lay me down and break me open,” Reyez, 34, sings in the clip over a dance beat.

Fans quickly asked Harris why Cyrus is no longer on “Oceans,” and he offered little information — but clarified he doesn’t hold any animosity toward the superstar.

In the comments section of the post on Harris’ TikTok page, a fan asked what happened to the collaboration, to which he replied, “I dunno.”

“I love Miley’s version more,” said another viewer, whom Harris instructed to “tell [Cyrus].”

One fan pleaded for Harris to “release it with Miley’s vocals,” but he said it’s “not possible.”

“Is there any issue between you and her?” read a comment. Harris responded, “Absolutely not!!”

“We want Miley on the track [though], she sounded so angelic,” said another fan. “She has an amazing voice,” wrote the “This Is What You Came For” hitmaker.

Replying to a viewer who said they “only want Miley,” Harris said, “Off you pop then.”

Someone else asked if the decision to change the vocalist was the fault of “Miley’s team,” and Harris wrote back, “Nah it was my bad…crossed wires.”

In another comment, a fan simply asked, “Wasn’t this the one with Miley Cyrus?” The “Summer” artist said, “Kind of but it was with Jessie first.” Responding to a different fan, he noted Reyez wrote the song.

Reyez shared another clip of “Ocean” to her Instagram page, tagging Harris in the caption of the video with the lyrics, “Sun is up, back to life, my eyes are open / And the last thing I remember was you holding me / The fact that I still love you in the morning / Tells me that your body might be home for me.”

Harris’ last full-length project, 96 Months, was released in August 2024. This year, he’s released the singles “Smoke the Pain Away” and “Blessings” with Clementine Douglas.
