Cassie Ventura speaks out on Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ verdict after testifying in sex-trafficking trial
Casandra “Cassie” Ventura reacted to ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs’ verdict on Wednesday.
Her lawyer, Doug Widor, released a statement after Combs was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution — and acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering.
“This entire criminal process started when our client Cassie Ventura had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023,” the attorney wrote.
“Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution,” he continued.
Widor went on to praise Cassie’s “indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice … by coming forward with her experience,” highlighting her “exemplary courage” and “unquestionable strength.”
The statement concluded, “This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors.”
While speaking to reporters outside the courtroom, Widor added that Cassie is “in a good place” and “pleased” that her ex is facing “substantial jail time” while being “held responsible” for two federal crimes.”
The “Me & U” singer, notably, delivered a bombshell testimony in Combs’ sex-trafficking trial in May.
Combs had been charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and prostitution, all of which he pleaded not guilty to.
Cassie, who dated Combs on and off from 2007 to 2018, took the stand to detail the alleged abuse she suffered during their time together.
She made headlines for detailing the allegedly days-long, brutal “Freak Offs” she took part in that “became a job,” breaking down the painful medical issues she suffered as a result.
The following week, news broke that Cassie had been admitted to the labor and delivery unit of a New York City hospital ahead of her due date.
The 38-year-old musician welcomed her and husband Alex Fine‘s son later that same day.
TMZ claimed she and the infant were both doing well but did not divulge any further details about the little one at the time.
The newborn joined Cassie and Fine’s eldest two children, daughters Frankie, 5, and Sunny, 4, who were born in December 2019 and March 2021, respectively.
Cassie revealed her pregnancy news in a February Instagram slideshow featuring black-and-white family photos.
She hinted at her baby’s sex with a blue heart emoji in the caption, confirming the news in a birthday tribute to Fine the following month.
“You’ve taken care of me and my heart like no other, you’re hands down the best girl dad and I’m SO excited to see you now become a father to OUR SON! 🤯” Cassie captioned sweet snaps in March.
The couple have been married since August 2019.
Fine supported his wife when she testified against Combs, detailing the years of alleged abuse she experienced during their on-again, off-again relationship.
After Cassie spent four days on the stand, Fine praised her “strength and bravery” in a lengthy statement.
“Cassie saved Cassie,” he clarified, in part. “She alone broke free from abuse, coercion, violence and threats. She did the work.”
Cassie released a statement of her own by expressing a desire to “focus on the conclusion of [her] pregnancy” in private.
