Chad Michael Murray loved getting to reconnect with his Freaky Friday costar Lindsay Lohan for the film’s upcoming sequel.

While attending Christmas Con 2024 in Edison, N.J., on Dec. 15, the actor, 43, took part in a fan Q&A, where he was asked about Freakier Friday.

“It was awesome. It was just a nostalgic kick,” Murray said of the project. “It felt like a high school reunion, you know? It felt like no time had passed, and yet we had entire lives in between.”

Then, highlighting that it had been “23 years since we were on set doing the first one,” The Merry Gentlemen star also explained that following the plot of the film, which deals with body swapping between family members, could, at times, be confusing.

“There [were] moments where I’m sitting there going, ‘Okay, who’s who?’ … I was really focused. I had to do my homework, like, a lot, and then I’d still get it wrong,” he teased. “But it was great. So much fun.”

New characters, meanwhile, will be played by Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Sophia Hammons, per Variety.

Earlier this year, Entertainment Weekly reported that the plot of Freakier Friday, directed by Nisha Ganatra, will revolve around Lohan and Curtis’ characters switching bodies with two teenage girls.

Freakier Friday will hit theaters on Aug. 8, 2025.
