Christine Baranski celebrated a night out on Broadway in style.

The Gilded Age actress, 73, stepped out at the re-opening of Mamma Mia! at New York City’s Winter Garden Theatre on Monday, Aug. 18, wearing a disco-inspired silver sequined suit and was photographed holding hands with singer King Princess, 26.

King Princess, whose real name is Mikaela Straus, wore a button-down blouse that featured a newspaper print and black pants, accessorizing with a belt and necklaces.

Both Baranski and the “1950” singer donned sunglasses for the event.

King Princess later shared the moment to Instagram.

The singer, who previously dated actress Amandla Stenberg, shared the photos with Baranski in a post on Wednesday, Aug. 20, which was captioned “#loveislove.”

Her fans took to the comments to say they were “obsessed with whatever is going on here” and another comparing the pairing to Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor, with one person saying the photos gave them “full body chills.”

Actress Hannah Einbinder chimed in, writing, “ava and deborah vibes,” in reference to the characters she and Jean Smart play on Hacks.

Despite the speculation that their hand-holding caused, a rep for Baranski confirms to PEOPLE that the actress and King Princess are “strictly friends and nothing more.”

“They have never been in a relationship, nor are they now,” the rep adds.

King Princess and Baranski first met while costarring on season 2 of Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers.

The singer played Tina, a classically trained pianist who was dating Wolfie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) while Baranski played Victoria, the mother of Imogen (Annie Murphy) who was living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The second season premiered in May 2025.

The two have been spotted together on various occasions, including a performance of Oh, Mary! on Broadway in August 2024 and the opening night of The Picture of Dorian Gray in March 2025.

They’ve also candidly spoken about their bond, with Baranski saying in a feature for Interview Magazine that becoming friends with King Princess was “the greatest gift” from the show.

“…developing a friendship with this wildly talented young woman who’s so opinionated, deeply funny and witty,” she continued. “We’ve curiously bonded and wanted to remain friends.”

As King Princess joked, “Well, be careful, Christine, because people will talk,” the Good Fight actress — who was previously married to actor Matthew Cowles from October 1983 until he died in May 2014 — added: “Our first date—let’s give them something to talk about—we actually got dressed up and finally had dinner.”

“I remember we went to this chic, French-y watering hole,” Baranski continued. “We sat at the bar, ordered our martinis, and suddenly we’re talking about our grandmothers who deeply affected and influenced our lives. I think that’s where we profoundly bonded.”

At the end of the interview, King Princess told Baranski: “I love you and I’m just thankful to have you in my life.”

Baranski attending the Mamma Mia! re-opening on Broadway makes sense, as she starred in the films based on the musical.

The Good Wife and Good Fight actress played Tanya in the 2008 film, a jukebox of musical rom-com of ABBA hits, alongside Meryl Streep’s Donna, Julie Walters’ Rosie, Amanda Seyfried’s Sophie and more.

Baranski returned for the 2018 sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, and has hinted that a third film could be in the works.

The Mamma Mia! Broadway musical ran from 2001 to 2015. A revival was announced earlier this year for a limited run, with dates running from August 2025 to February 2026.
