Things got a little out of hand during a game between the Utah Tech Trailblazers and the Santa Clara Broncos.

When Chance Trujillo got posterized on a dunk by Broncos forward Allen Graves in the waning minutes of the game at the Leavey Center in Santa Clara on Wednesday, Dec. 3, the Trailblazers guard lashed out.

Graves’ dunk, which put Santa Clara ahead 86-77 with 1:18 remaining, seemingly sparked Trujillo’s fury.

In footage from the no-holds-barred moment, the redshirt sophomore sucker-punched Graves on the side of his head.

Trujillo’s unexpected move then prompted the Santa Clara player to try to fight back, but he was restrained by his teammates and coaches.

Refs hit both players with technicals on the play, along with Brenton Knapper of Santa Clara. The Broncos went on to win the game, 90-80.

It was not immediately clear whether Trujillo, who is averaging 5.4 points per game, will face a suspension for his actions.

With the win, Santa Clara improved to 8-1 on the season and will next face New Mexico on the road on Saturday.

As the Broncos make their run for the NCAA tournament, their last March Madness appearance was in 1996, when they were led by future Hall of Fame basketball guard Steve Nash.

The team was bounced in the second round by the Kansas Jayhawks, who went on to lose in the West Regional final to Syracuse.
