Conan O’Brien, Alex Cooper celebrate SiriusXM Golden Globes
One of the hottest parties in Hollywood over Golden Globes weekend started at 9a.m.
SiriusXM hosted a morning bash for its podcast nominees at Max & Helen’s, the LA diner co-owned by “Everybody Loves Raymond” creator and foodie Phil Rosenthal that’s racked up allegedly 8-hour waits on weekend for tables since its November launch. (That’s reportedly the longest wait for a table in LA history.)
But SiriusXM managed to book the spot for its “Before The Buzz” bash on Saturday morning, bringing out guests including “SmartLess” podcast hosts Will Arnett, Sean Hayes and Jason Bateman, “Call Her Daddy” mastermind Alex Cooper, Mel Robbins, Conan O’Brien, Ted Danson, music mogul Irving Azoff and Dax Shepherd.
Also spotted at the bash were comedian Sebastian Maniscalco, “Pod Save America” hosts Jon Favreau and Jon Lovett, Tig Notaro, Alex Edelman, Sway Calloway, Tom Papa and more.
SiriusXM president and chief content officer Scott Greenstein even jumped behind the counter to help serve guests.
Saturday night was filled with over-the-top bashes, but an insider told us that SiriusXM didn’t want to do a big party, but rather have its stars and VIPs “mix with stars in a cool, easy vibe at the hottest place in town with the nicest people running it who you just love supporting.”
(We’re not sure that Rosenthal and his Max & Helen’s partner, Nancy Silverton of Mozza fame, need the support! Rosenthal previously told The Hollywood Reporter of his 40-seat restaurant that even Steven Spielberg gave him two days notice just to try and land a table for two.)
Other top SiriusXM brass at the morning party included CEO Jennifer Witz.
Guests at the fete that ran till noon sampled the restaurant’s signature items, including the waffle with maple butter (a viral sensation), the New York breakfast sandwich, and Lily Rosenthal’s very hot Lily’s Hot Chocolate.
Josh Beckerman — aka the Foodie Magician — performed.
As guests of honor were being toasted, O’Brien joked he also wanted to be thanked for driving all the way over to the party from the Westside.
It’s the first year the Globes have included a best podcast category, with nominees including “Smartless,” “Call Her Daddy,” “The Mel Robbins Podcast,” Shepherd’s “Armchair Expert,” Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” and NPR’s “Up First.”
