Corie Walsh Texted Family About Disney World Trip for Son Hours Before Killing Him

Corie Walsh, who was allegedly “invested” in Lindsay Clancy’s murder case, texted her family about a planned trip to Disney World for her son, Barrett, just hours before she killed him, according to new legal documents.

During her September 8 arraignment hearing, defense attorney Robert Kerr tried to explain that Walsh, 40, was a loving mother before she admittedly killed Barrett, 2, on September 1.

Kerr explained that Barrett had delayed speech and that his first words were “Bluey” and “Mickey Mouse,” according to the New York Post. Due to his love for Disney, Walsh allegedly “could not wait, she told her mother, to see [Barrett’s] face when he met Bluey and Mickey” at Disney World.

While prosecutors claimed that Walsh had become “very invested” in Clancy’s high-profile murder trial before she “knowingly and intentionally” killed her son, her defense attorneys said she excitedly told her family about the trip just hours prior to the murder.

Walsh and her mother started planning the vacation back in January, according to Kerr.

“They reserved flights, rooms. They made dinner reservations. They obtained park passes,” he said. “And of all of her children – she told her mom this, Judge, hours before the incident…[Walsh] was most excited for [Barrett], given his age and his affection for these characters, to go to Disney.”

Kerr went on to say that Walsh’s friends, family and neighbors have claimed that the killings were out of character for Walsh. He added that she was described as “a very highly-involved, highly-functioning mother, a good mother, a loving and doting mother,” per the outlet.

Walsh was also trusted among her peers, with some of her mom friends allowing “Corie to care for their own children at times.”

Walsh appears to be supported by her family — her husband, mother and other loved ones attended her Thursday, September 24, preliminary hearing.

During her recent court appearance, she pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder.

Walsh has remained in jail, but Kerr and her other attorney, Andrea Lyon, are still seeking to have her released and transferred to a hospital for psychiatric treatment. However, a judge previously refused the request earlier in September.

Following the September 24 hearing, Lyon told reporters that Walsh’s jail records had been subpoenaed “to see whether or not she’s getting the treatment she needs.”

She added that her “whole family” has continued to support her.

“They love her and this is not — she’s never been violent… she was psychotic. They all know that and want her to get better. This is not who she is,” Lyon claimed.

A neighbor found Barrett dead on September 1, and Walsh had attempted to commit suicide soon after. Witnesses told police that Walsh had become “very invested” in Clancy’s trial after she was accused of killing her three kids in January 2023 before also attempting suicide.

At the time of the murder, Clancy’s jury was deliberating on whether she should be found criminally responsible for killing her kids amid her postpartum psychosis. A mistrial was declared on September 4 after the jury was unable to come to a unanimous verdict.
