‘Creepy’ Catherine Zeta-Jones called out for ‘inappropriate’ comment about minor fan

Critics are calling out Catherine Zeta-Jones for the “creepy” comment she made about a pre-teen fan.
During an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” last Friday, the “Mask of Zorro” actress, 55, spoke about how her role as Morticia Addams on Netflix’s hit show “Wednesday” gained her a “new generation of fans.”
“What was really great about what’s happening in this … is that I’ve got this, like, new kind of generation of fans,” she told host Seth Meyers.
“I was hitting golf balls with Michael [Douglas] the other day on the driving range, I was practicing, and this really cute 12-year-old boy came up and asked for my autograph,” Zeta-Jones explained.
“He was, like, really cute. And then I went, ‘Ha ha! When I’m 70, this cute little boy will be like, 33.’”
Meyers then asked the “Chicago” star if her 80-year-old husband, Douglas, could tell when she was doing math in her head.
“Yeah, he usually thinks I’m wondering what club to pick. But I’m not. I’m going, ‘Hmm. At that time, I’m sure it’ll be just fine,’” she quipped.
Zeta-Jones then appeared to defend her thoughts about the minor by saying that the “Basic Instinct” actor was “25 years older” than her.
“That’s true. So you get one of those, too?” Meyers said, to which she replied, “Yeah. Thanks.”
Zeta-Jones’ comments were met with backlash from fans who found it “inappropriate” for her to be discussing a young boy in that manner.
“Listen, I know she is married to a much older man, but she was one whole adult when she made that decision. Thinking and speaking about a literal child in this manner is unacceptable and I am absolutely appalled that she thought this would be a cute story to share with the world. Girl, just stop. 🤮,” wrote one user on a Reddit thread.
“It’s creepy. Who has these thoughts when they have an interaction with a 12 year old,” added another.
“A reminder that women can be pedophiles too. No ‘normal’ person thinks that way. At all,” claimed a third.
“The fact that this was said in 2025- there really is no excuse. Not that there is ever an excuse but at least an older video would have made it less shocking,” commented a fourth netizen.
A fifth fan said a male actor would have been “black listed” if they made those comments about a young girl, while another person questioned why Meyers “went along with it.”
Page Six has reached out to Zeta-Jones’ reps for comment but did not immediately hear back.
The “Entrapment” actress met Douglas when she was in her late 20s in 1998 at the Deauville Film Festival.
The following year, the pair got engaged and they tied the knot in November 2000.
The “Traffic” co-stars share son Dylan, 25, and daughter Carys, 22, with Zeta-Jones. Douglas is also dad to son Cameron, 46, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Diandra Luker.
