Demi Lovato Hilariously Transforms Into Her Viral Meme ‘Poot’ for Halloween: ‘Let Pootvato Out’
Demi Lovato has a great sense of humor.
Lovato, 33, hilariously dressed up as a viral meme of herself for Halloween. The singer showed off her costume via social media on Thursday, October 30, making fans go wild.
In one snap, she posed next to a pic of the meme known as “Poot,” which was taken at the 2014 Royal Variety Performance. Lovato donned pale foundation to give an overexposed look, as well as bright blush. She made the look even more like the meme by sporting a combover hairdo with part of a bald cap on.
To further seal the deal, Lovato wore a white long-sleeve T-shirt featuring a boat neck. She made the look even more scrappy by cutting the hem of her sleeves up. Lovato teamed her top with an inside-out skirt featuring exposed seams, white feathers and a high-low silhouette. She accessorized with a brown leather belt and white peep-toe heels.
“Happy Halloween and happy one week of intd!!! been so locked in this era, thought I’d let pootvato out 🔒🤍,” Lovato captioned the post, using the acronym for her new album, It’s Not That Deep. Fans laughed along with her in the comments section.
“Nothing short of f***ing brilliance. You stay holding the Halloween crown 👑👑👑,” one user praised, while another wrote, “NO WAY HAHAHAAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAH.” A third commented, “This is the funniest thing you’ve ever done.”
The singer also made a TikTok of her look, joking that she finally let Poot out of the basement after all these years. In the clip, she posed next to a trash can and swept her floors as Sabrina Carpenter’s “House Tour” played in the background.
“Hi AD it’s me, poot, welcome to my basement!” she wrote alongside the video, pretending it was for Architectural Digest.
The Poot meme first started in 2015 after the overexposed pic of Lovato went viral on Tumblr. It was given a fictional backstory of the singer’s long-lost twin, Poot, who was locked away her entire life in a basement.

“Demi’s twin sister,” the original caption read. “She was locked in a basement her whole life. This picture was taken the first time she went outside. Her name is Poot.”
In April, Lovato laughed about the decade-old meme via TikTok, writing, “When someone asks me to let Poot out of the basement.” She mouthed over an audio, “Wow, what an offer.”
“And I’m never letting her out,” she captioned the post.
Lovato previously laughed about the photo in 2017 during an episode of The Jonathan Ross Show.
“There was a meme that blew up around you,” host Ross, 64, said. “The name of this meme was Poot Lovato.”
Lovato immediately started cracking up and explained the photo.
“It was this altered image of me. At first, I was like, so embarrassed because I was like, ‘That’s such a bad angle!’ And then someone was like, ‘No, they Photoshopped it.’”
After learning that the pic was altered, Lovato shared that she didn’t “care” about it blowing up anymore. “Poot for the win!”
