Derek Hough Celebrates Pregnant Wife Hayley Erbert’s 31st Birthday with ‘Babymoon’ Trip: ‘My Joy, My Queen, My Rockstar’

Happy birthday, Hayley Erbert!

Derek Hough celebrated his pregnant wife’s 31st birthday on Saturday, Oct. 11, with a “babymoon” trip.

Sharing a video from the couple’s getaway, the Dancing with the Stars judge, 40, wrote in the caption of an Instagram post, “Happy birthday to my beautiful wife @hayley.erbert Celebrating you in our special place, where time slows down, and everything just makes sense.”

“This little babymoon has been magic, just us before we welcome our greatest adventure yet.
❤️❤️❤️,” he continued.

Hough also shared various Instagram Stories posts, where he called Erbert: “My Joy,” “My Queen,” “My Rockstar” and more.

Hough and Erbert — who is currently pregnant and expecting the couple’s first baby — began their romance in 2015 while they were both appearing on DWTS.

After seven years of dating, the pair announced their engagement in June 2022. “It’s only the beginning … the beginning of forever ♥️,” Hough wrote on Instagram at the time.

Hough and Erbert then exchanged vows during an outdoor ceremony in Monterey County, Calif. in August 2023. “We got married right in front of this mother tree that’s surrounded by all these smaller trees,” Erbert told PEOPLE at the time. “They drop all the seeds, and it plants kind of like an army of children to protect the mother. The symbolism of it was beautiful. We’re here, planting our seeds to grow our family.”

The pair have been through thick and thin in the years since, including when Erbert underwent an emergency craniectomy in late 2023.

Back in May, when Hough marked his 40th birthday, Erbert celebrated her husband by listing 20 things she loves about him in a touching Instagram tribute.

Some of the things the soon-to-be mother listed included Hough’s “sense of adventure” and the way he “takes care” of her and their relationship — which she described as “what I always dreamed of.” Erbert also praised Hough for being “extremely thoughtful,” and she highlighted his “talent,” “sweetness” and “weirdness,” as well as his “gardening obsession.” 

“Happy 40th Birthday to my favorite person ever!” Erbert also wrote in the post’s caption. “This world has been blessed for 4 decades with your presence and I’m lucky to have had you in my life for one of those. 🥰.”

Hough, for his part, marked the occasion by sharing a mirror selfie showing off his abs and nodding to a years-old joke between himself and Erbert.

“For the past 5 years, I’ve been looking in the bathroom mirror and telling @hayley.erbert, ‘Not bad for 40!’ She’d always laugh and remind me, ‘You’re not 40 yet, you can’t say that.’ Well, today’s the day I can officially say it: ‘Hey, not bad for 40,’ ” he wrote.
