Diane von Furstenberg celebrates 50 years of ‘unconventional love’ with Barry Diller
Diane von Furstenberg and Barry Diller have reached their golden anniversary.
The fashion designer celebrated 50 years since she and her husband fell in love via Instagram over the weekend.
“Today is the 50th anniversary of the BIG BANG !!! The day Barry and I fell in love !” the 78-year-old captioned throwback photos on Saturday with the billionaire businessman, who came out as gay earlier this year.
“He opened the door of his heart and never closed it !” she continued. “The first day of a long, colorful, happy journey …. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE ❤️❤️❤️ thank you BD ❤️👍🙏.”
The social media slideshow kicked off with a photo of the couple riding a motorcycle in all-white ensembles, with the “House of DVF” alum kissing her partner’s back.
Subsequent shots showed them cuddling up on couches, walking the Met Gala red carpet and more.
Rita Wilson, Lauren Sanchez and more stars gushed over the pair’s milestone moment in the comments section.
“A great love story!” Andy Cohen wrote, while Amy Schumer added that she was “knocked out by” the snaps.
Furstenberg and Diller, 83, got married in 2001.
Diller came out as gay in a New York magazine essay in May, acknowledging that his romance with the fashionista has “caused confusion and lots of speculation.”
He called his “cosmic” love for von Furstenberg — the “one woman” he has fallen for along with “a good many men” — the “miracle of [his] life.”
He noted, “Yes, I also liked guys, but that was not a conflict with my love for Diane. I can’t explain it to myself or to the world.”
Diller’s wife broke her silence on his public announcement in a recent interview with Variety.
“It doesn’t change anything,” von Furstenberg told the magazine before railing against the “stupid question.”
“I married two gay men, OK?” she added, referencing her first husband, Prince Egon von Furstenberg. “I don’t know why, but to me, they’re not gay, so it doesn’t make any difference.”
