Dorinda Medley Reveals Why Bethenny Frankel Isn’t Included in ‘RHONY’ OG Group Chat

Dorinda Medley is breaking down the reason why Bethenny Frankel isn’t included in The Real Housewives of New York City’s OG group chat.

“Bethenny went off and did her own thing,” Medley, 60, said on the Wednesday, July 23, episode of the “How to Fail” podcast. “I don’t think she particularly would want to be in the group chat. It’s not organic to her anymore, I don’t think.”

Medley added that she got “messages this morning” from their group chat.

Frankel, now 54, starred on the first three seasons of RHONY before returning for season 7. She ultimately left in 2019 after season 11 to focus on her daughter and other endeavors. (Frankel welcomed daughter Bryn with ex-husband Jason Hoppy in 2010.)

Medley, for her part, announced her exit from RHONY in 2020 after six seasons. Weeks after sharing her departure, Medley confirmed on an episode of Frankel’s podcast that she had been let go — something that bonded the twosome.

“We have become even closer. I really did help her through that entire journey,” Frankel exclusively told Us Weekly in 2020. “I was the first phone call she made after she was let go, and I kind of walked her through what I thought was the best way for her to handle herself as a woman, as an employee.”

Frankel claimed that she was the one who encouraged Medley “to be honest about” what happened with her leave from the Bravo series.

“99 percent of the people that leave the Housewives have been fired. I would be in the 1 percent,” Frankel told Us. “99 percent have been fired and kind of lie about it. And it was just good that she just walked through it and owned it.”

The next year, Medley reflected on her relationships with former RHONY costars and called Frankel her “girl.”

“I love Bethenny. Bethenny is a powerhouse,” she exclusively told Us in 2021. “She’s an endless learning curve that girl, and you could just listen to her forever. She’s a unique character, strong. What a businesswoman. I admire her.”

She continued, “You kinda have to peel an onion to become close to someone. It’s a process and we’ve gone through the process. We just really liked each other. I really admire her. We’re very dear friends. We’re very close. I love Bethenny. She is a character — I love a good character. [A] badass, that girl.”

Medley noted that she and Frankel could “talk about dirty laundry for hours.”
