The reported ‘love rival’ of Downton Abbey and Emmerdale star Amy Nuttall has been spotted on the set of the new Bridget Jones movie.

Leila Farzad, who was said to have had an affair with Amy’s husband Andrew Buchan after they both starred in BBC police drama Better together, was seen filming scenes in London with Renée Zellweger – who has famously played Bridget since 2001 – as they shot the upcoming fourth instalment of the franchise, called Mad About The Boy.

‘Cheating’ Andrew briefly left his wife for Leila, it was reported, but he is now thought to have reconciled with Amy, who he shares two children with, after she took him back for a third time and issued him with seven strict rules they must abide by if they want to save their marriage. Though there is no second series of Better following the co-stars’ scandal.

Though it isn’t clear what character 42-year-old Leila plays in the movie yet, she looked chic in a long camel coloured wool coat, mocha tailored trousers and beige roll neck top as she sat at a bus stop with an orange handbag by Spanish luxury designer brand Loewe. In another snap she is seen looking on as Renée, dressed in a padded cream jacket teamed with a plaid skirt, black tights and orange Adidas trainers, got into her role as Bridget again.

Earlier this year, it was revealed 55-year-old Renée was reprising her most famous role. So far we’ve seen her as a 30-something singleton desperate to find a husband. Her life then drastically changes when two men fight for her affection – Colin Firth and Hugh Grant.

She eventually got together with Colin, aka Mark Darcy. But after a fling with Hugh (Daniel Cleaver), it seemed she wasn’t getting her happy ending after all. In the last movie, which came out in 2016, Bridget finds herself accidentally pregnant at 43. She decides to keep the baby – but there’s one catch, is it Mark’s who she slept with at a wedding or is it mysterious stranger Jack Quant, played by Patrick Dempsey, who’s the baby daddy?

Viewers left Bridget back with Mark after the baby turns out to be his. And at the end of Bridget Jones’ Baby, she marries Mark and is seen walking off into the sunset with her baby son on her hip. But while it might have seemed Bridget had got her happy ever after all, fans are devastated that Mark won’t be making an appearance in the new movie. This is because Bridget Jones author Helen Fielding has killed him off!

Mad About The Boy, set to be released in 2025, will show Bridget as a single mother looking for love once again – and she is set to find it in the form of toy boy Leo Woodall, who recently shot to fame as the lead in Netflix series One Day.

Infamous man child Daniel Cleaver, who was revealed to be alive at the end of the last film despite hundreds attending his ‘funeral’, is also set to star, as is Emma Thompson as Doctor Rawlings. While exact details of the new film’s plot are being kept under wraps, we know hapless Bridget has an unfortunate encounter with her new love interest in London’s famous Hampstead Heath park. She gets stuck up a tree and Leo – who plays character Rockstar in the movie – comes to her rescue.

Other scenes have been shot in Hackney in east London as Renée was pictured waving at fans earlier this week. The Oscar-winning actress was wearing a classic Bridget cardigan, grey jogging bottoms and trainers, with her hair in a messy bun, as she walked down the street talking on her mobile phone.

And fans who happened to live in the area went wild. One took to TikTok to post a clip and captioned in: “London is looking outside your window and discovering they’re filming a new Bridget Jones’ Diary movie.” Another commented: “Omg I just love Bridget Jones,” said one. A third added: “Omg I would lose my head! How exciting.” “This is so iconic,” said a fourth. “I’m so excited, I love her,” wrote a fifth fan. While a sixth added: “It’s crazy how many people are behind the scenes. Love Bridget jones – look forward to it.”
