‘Emily in Paris’ Star Ashley Park Narrowly Averts a Major Wardrobe Malfunction on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’
Emily in Paris star Ashley Park narrowly averted a major wardrobe malfunction on The Drew Barrymore Show.
Park, 34, appeared on the Thursday, December 11 edition of Drew Barrymore‘s daytime talk show to promote the upcoming season of her hit Netflix series. Barrymore, 50, praised Park’s brown Michael Kors suit, declaring, “This outfit is to die-for!”
The host called the look “stunning” and said she’d “love to wear something like that.”
Park gave credit to her stylist, Brad Goreski, and asked, “Should we trade?”
Barrymore, sporting a suit and tie, jokingly took Park up on the idea and removed her jacket. In turn, Park went to remove hers, then exclaimed, “Oh my God, it popped open!”
Fortunately, the studio audience and viewers back home did not glimpse the malfunction as it happened. Park guffawed as Barrymore quipped, “By the way, my kinda show,” and fixed her guest’s jacket.
Park reprises her role as Mindy in Emily in Paris’ fifth installment, which drops on December 18. Earlier this month, the actress exclusively spoke to Us Weekly about Mindy’s character arc and buzzy new dynamic with Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).
“I would say that the show keeps surprising me,” Park told Us. “I did not see Mindy’s story lines in season 5 coming. … I feel like I got to be in eight different genres of shows all in one. What else could you ask for? So I never know what to expect.”
She continued: “I’ve just really stopped expecting. But also when we’re going to Venice for two weeks to film, it feels like such a pinch-me moment. They really keep us on her toes.”
At the time, Netflix had dropped a trailer and new photos showing Emily (Lily Collins) embarking on a new chapter in Rome with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) while Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) remained in Paris. As for Mindy, well, a steamy shot of her with Lucien captivated fans who wonder what’s in store for the previously platonic duo.
“What’s fun though is this feels like it came out of left field, but also, Lucien is one of my best friends on the show,” Park revealed. “So we were always laughing about how we love hanging out, but we don’t have scenes together. It made it really fun this year.”
Last month, Us also caught up with Park at the the Netflix House Philadelphia VIP Housewarming Party, where she marveled at how far the show — and its cast — has come since it premiered in October 2020.
“Me and Lily were just talking about that the other day,” she said at the time. “We’ve known each other for half a decade and it’s interesting to step into the shoes of a character where it’s a couple days later but you’ve grown as a person six months to a year [between seasons].”
Park said Emily in Paris “has completely changed my life in terms of the pathways and the conversations I get to be a part of. I get to have conversations with people around the world because of Netflix being global. I’m very grateful.”
