Emma Stone Makes Rare Comment About Ex Andrew Garfield While Celebrating ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

Emma Stone has nothing but fond memories of working with ex-boyfriend Andrew Garfield.
“I really loved doing Spider-Man. I loved everybody I worked with,” Stone, 36, shared in an interview with Vogue published on Thursday, August 14. “I met Andrew there. I met Sally Field, and [director] Marc Webb was wonderful. It was a really special time in my life.”
Garfield, 41, and Stone met on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man in December 2010. In June 2011, Us Weekly confirmed the pair were an item.
Although the costars called it quits for good in October 2015, both Stone and Garfield have continued to speak highly of each other.
“We care about each other so much, and that’s a given, that’s kind of this unconditional thing,” Garfield told Vanity Fair in January 2017. “There’s so much love between us and so much respect. … I’m her biggest fan as an artist.”
He continued, “It’s been bliss to be able to watch her success and watch her bloom into the actress that she is. And it’s been wonderful to have that kind of support for each other. It’s nothing but a beautiful thing.”
Stone’s latest memories of The Amazing Spider-Man came as she broke down her life in looks for Vogue’s September 2025 issue.
When looking back on her yellow Versace dress from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 premiere in London, Stone was immediately taken back to a positive time in her career.
“That’s the recurring thing is the people more than kind of the film itself is what sticks with me for so long,” she explained to the publication. “I only have the fondest memories of this whole experience.”
Well, there is one thing she doesn’t exactly miss about those days.
The actress recalled the exhausting press tours where she traveled to nine countries in nearly two weeks.
“I don’t really know how people do it,” she said. “You’re functioning in a state of jet lag never previously known to you. I felt truly psychotic the entire time. I’m half dead in this picture, but I love the look.”
These days, Stone is still appearing on the big screen, including a role in the upcoming film Bugonia. At the same time, she is savoring family time with her husband, Dave McCary, and their 4-year-old daughter, Louise Jean.
“There’s nothing I feel luckier about,” she told Vogue. “She’s the greatest gift of my life, for sure.”
