Eric Dane advocated for a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) as the progression of his symptoms was on full display in a campaign video.

After the “Euphoria” actor missed the planned “Grey’s Anatomy” reunion at the Emmys 2025 Sunday, he appeared in a campaign video for the I AM ALS organization to promote accelerating research for the neurodegenerative disease.

“I’m Eric. An actor, a father and now a person living with ALS,” Dane, 52, said in a clip shared on Instagram Monday.

“For over a century, ALS has been incurable, and we’re done accepting the status quo. We need the fastest path to a cure and that’s why I partnered with I AM ALS on the Push for Progress. Our goal? A billion dollars over the next three years,” the “Grey’s Anatomy” alum continued.

“Together, we’ll renew the landmark law ACT for ALS, get promising treatments to thousands of patients like me. And finally, finally push towards ending this disease.”

Dance concluded his speech by urging his followers to visit the I AM ALS website to donate to the cause.

“Get involved and be a part of pushing for progress,” he said.

During the clip, Dane spoke slowly and occasionally slurred his words. His arms also appeared to twitch uncontrollably at times.

Fans took to the comments section of the video to discuss the noticeable changes in the “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” star.

“The progression was so fast,” wrote one user.

“I don’t know a lot about ALS, admittedly, can someone tell me if the difference in Eric’s speech is a part of the diagnosis? It sounds slurred, as if he’s struggling with speaking. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to see how fast he has changed for the worst [sic],” added another.

Dane announced he was diagnosed with ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscles, in April — just weeks after calling off his divorce from his wife, Rebecca Gayheart. (Dane is now dating filmmaker Janell Shirtcliff.)

In June, the dad of two opened up about the heartbreaking progression of his disease, revealing that he had “one functioning arm.”

“My dominant side, my left side, is functioning,” he told Diane Sawyer on “Good Morning America” at the time. “My right side has completely stopped working.”

Dane said he only had “a few more months” before his left arm and hand gave out as well, and that he could possibly lose function in his legs.

On Sunday, the “Last Ship” alum was supposed to take the Emmys stage alongside his “Grey’s Anatomy” co-star Jesse Williams for a segment celebrating 20 years of Shonda Rhimes’ long-running medical show.

However, the “Cabin in the Woods” actor, 44, presented the award for outstanding directing for a drama series alone.
