Nika King continues to keep it real about her role in the third season of Euphoria

Production for the hit HBO series kicked off in February, however, the 46-year-old actress was not named as a returning cast member. She played Leslie Bennett, the mother to siblings Rue Bennett (Zendaya) and Gia Bennett (Storm Reid),

In a now-viral video shared to her Instagram account Monday, July 14, King jokingly addressed the topic.

“When ppl ask me if I’m filming S3 of Euphoria?” she wrote over “Me:”

The clip showed the actress dressed in scrubs with her hair tied, wearing cleaning gloves as she scrubbed a restaurant stove. “A job is a job,” she captioned the video.

“oh this actually pissed me off,” one fan wrote. Another added, “that’s still so f–ked up to me. you’re a phenomenal performer and you truly deserve everything.”

Her upload was a joint post with Blue Tree Cafe, a vegan soul food restaurant that King co-owns with her mother in Florida.

A rep for King did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Last week’s post isn’t the first time King has addressed the casting situation.

In March 2024, she shared a video of one of her standup gigs to TikTok in which she told the audience she did not know what was next for her regarding the series.

“Season 3 is coming out … I don’t f—ing know. Don’t ask me. I don’t know,” the actress said.

“ ‘We need season 3!’ ” King said, mimicking fans. “Bitch, I need season 3 — I haven’t paid my rent in six months.”

After debuting in June 2019, there was a more than a two-and-a-half year gap before Euphoria returned in January 2022. The season 2 finale aired in February 2022 and new episodes aren’t set to be released until late 2025 or 2026.

In August 2022, Barbie Ferreira announced her character, Kat Hernandez, would not be returning for the third season.

“After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character kat, I’m having to say a very teary eyed goodbye,” she wrote on Instagram. “I hope many of you could see yourself in her like i did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and i hope you guys could feel it.”

Angus Cloud, who played Fez on the show, died unexpectedly in August 2023.

Euphoria‘s costume designer, Heidi Bivens, told Vogue that season 3 is rumored to be set “approximately five years in the future” when all the characters are out of high school.
