Former ‘Bachelorette’ Hannah Brown shares her six favorite books

Former “Bachelorette” star Hannah Brown loves to lounge on the beach with a good book.
“Reading is such a wonderful escape from the bustle of everyday life — at the same time, I always have something tucked into my suitcase when I’m on the go, because reading helps ground me,” Brown tells Page Six.
She adds that she’s more of a “beachside reader” than “bed reader” because she has an intense sleep routine.
After her stint on “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” in 2019, Brown began her writing career with her 2021 memoir, “God Bless This Mess.” She went on to publish her first romance book, “Mistakes We Never Made,” in 2024.
Her newest novel, “The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain,” comes out Tuesday and follows a woman whose relaxing tropical vacation is upended by multiple ex-fiancés.
Brown’s six must-read books below are a mix of ones that “stuck” with her throughout her life, as well as recent favorites.
“I love Rebecca Serle’s writing style. It’s just so lovely and smooth on the surface but also makes me feel something deep about what we’re here for and what matters most. I love that her work isn’t just about romance but driven by relationships in general, whether they be with a close friend, a parent or even yourself. Of course, romance always creeps in anyway, and I love that too. As a writer, I love reading other authors who can hit all those different notes so well.”
“There are so many amazing romance books out there, it’s really hard to choose which are my favorite. I love a little spice, but I also love a story that makes me feel transported. Emily Henry’s flirty dialogue is just *chef’s kiss* and I always feel inspired, and a little swoony, when I read her books.”
“Even though I love contemporary romance and rom-com, I feel like I wouldn’t truly be able to write romance without having read the queen of romance, social manners and girlhood — Jane Austen. ‘Pride and Prejudice’ is one for the ages! (And for the record, I vote for the 2005 adaptation with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen — sorry, Colin Firth fans!)”
“I read this young adult series when I was in middle school and I think it’s the first series that really made me imagine wanting to be an author someday too. Now that I think about it, maybe the friendships in this series subconsciously inspired the Core Four friendship in my two romance novels more than I realized — I just love a strong girl group!”
“I am a huge Taylor Jenkins Reid fan, and this book has been a favorite of mine for a long time. The writing style is so unique and I was so impressed with how Taylor was able to juggle all the different elements that this book had to offer.”
“I am a huge fan of admirer of everything Jamie Kern Lima has accomplished throughout her career. I’ve struggled with not feeling ‘enough’ so many times in my life, and this book — It hit me right in the heart. Jamie doesn’t just tell you you’re worthy — she helps you believe it for yourself. If you’ve ever doubted your value or wondered if you belong, this book is a must-read. She’s empowering, she’s honest and she’s walking proof that believing in yourself can truly change your life.”
