Arrest records in Fort Bend County, Texas, show that the Minnesota Vikings alum, 40, was arrested in Sugar Land — located about 25 miles outside of Houston — at around 10 a.m. local time on Sunday, Oct. 26.
Peterson was charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawful carrying of a weapon. TMZ was the first to report the news.
Police officers who spoke with KHOU on Sunday said they could not share details about the case, as it remains an active investigation.
Earlier this year, Peterson was arrested in Minnesota and charged with driving while impaired.
In April, the star running back was in town for an NFL Draft party at U.S. Bank Stadium, where the Vikings play. Hennepin County jail records show that Peterson was arrested early on the morning of April 25 and released hours later on $4,000 bail.

According to FOX 9, Peterson was charged with fourth-degree driving while impaired. Police alleged that in that case, Peterson was driving 83 mph in a 55-mph zone, and a preliminary breath test showed that his blood alcohol content measured at 0.14%. The legal limit for driving in Minnesota is 0.08%.
Peterson was taken No. 7 overall in the 2007 NFL Draft after three years at the University of Oklahoma. He spent the majority of his professional football career with the Minnesota Vikings, which saw him win three rushing titles and be named MVP in 2012.
He holds several records, including the single-game rushing record with 296 yards, the Vikings’ all-time rushing record, as well as the record for most rushing touchdowns on the Minnesota team.
Peterson later played for the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals and others before finishing his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks in 2021.
He competed on Dancing with the Stars‘ 32nd season.
