Glen Powell Meets Lookalike Contest Winner at Golden Globes in Adorable Interaction with His Mom: ‘Part of the Family Now’
Maxwell Braunstein is living the dream!
The Texas native who was named winner of the Glen Powell lookalike contest on Nov. 24 came face to face with the real-life actor for the first time at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 5 in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Powell, 36, ran into Braunstein on the red carpet ahead of the ceremony and burst out with excitement when he locked eyes with his doppelgänger, going in for the hug with his arms wide open.
“Oh, look who’s here!” said the Hit Man actor in a video captured by E! News as he happily walked towards Braunstein — a physician’s assistant who hails from Austin.
Braunstein then held up his phone to snap a selfie with Powell on the carpet before discussing the similarities in their appearance for the night. The dapper duo both sported suits for the evening, as well as aviator shades. “The sunglasses, too!” the contest winner gushed to Powell in amazement at their close appearances.
Powell then brought over his mother, Cyndy Powell, who accompanied the Top Gun: Maverick actor to the Golden Globes. However, this wasn’t the first time Braunstein met his mom.
In fact, this was a reintroduction between Braunstein and the actor’s mother, who was on hand to crown him the winner of the lookalike contest in November at the Auditorium Shores Park in Texas.
In addition to bragging rights of being named a movie star lookalike, the prize included $5, a cowboy hat and free queso from Torchy’s for a year. “Good to see you again,” Braunstein told Cyndy, as the trio all began conversing and discussing the funny scenario.

At the time, Powell, too, appeared on video to offer his doppelgänger the opportunity to gift one of their loved ones with a cameo in one of his upcoming projects, per Austin’s local affiliate Fox. “Blessed that your mother thinks I’m anything like ya,” Braunstein told the actor in November.
On the Golden Globes red carpet, Powell was asked by Etalk during an interview if he had seen his lookalike yet. “I did,” replied the Twister star. “What a great guy, so fun. He’s part of the family now. I finally have a brother!”
Braunstein aside, there was another lookalike contest winner in attendance at the Golden Globes! Miles Mitchell, who was named champ of Timothée Chalamet’s lookalike contest in New York City this past October, walked the red carpet with Braunstein, holding up signs that read, “I won a lookalike contest and now I’m at the Golden Globes.”
The Dune star and his doppelgänger also posed for photos together on the red carpet. This wasn’t the first time they met, though, as they were introduced to each other at a screening event seen in a video shared on Instagram in December.
The 21-year-old’s clip showed Chalamet, 28, shaking Mitchell’s hand before realizing who he was and excitedly exclaiming, “Oh, s—!”, before the two embraced and posed for a photo together.
Commenters were ecstatic, with one joking, “This is the biggest thing to ever happen for any chronically online person.”
