Gordon Ramsay is opening up about a recent health scare.

“Grateful and so appreciate for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma thank you !” Ramsay, 58, shared via Instagram on Saturday, August 30, along with photographs of the cut and stitches he received from the surgery.

“Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend,” the chef added. “I promise you it’s not a face lift! I’d need a refund…..”

The first photo shared by the Kitchen Nightmares star shows the famous chef bandaged just below the ear and along the left side of his face. The second photo shows the chef’s incision — an inch or so cut — with what appeared to be close to seven or eight stitches.

Gordon Ramsay urges cyclists to “wear a helmet” after suffering injuries due to a frightening bicycle accident in Connecticut. “Unfortunately, I had a really bad accident and it really shook me. And honestly, I’m lucky to be here,” the MasterChef host, 57, shared via an Instagram video on Saturday, June 15. Ramsay thanked the nurses […]

A basal cell carcinoma is “a type of skin cancer that most often develops on areas of skin exposed to the sun, such as the face,” according to the Mayo Clinic. The cancer often appears as a growth or a sore that doesn’t heal, and can look like a shiny, skin-colored bump, a brown, black or blue lesion, a flat, scaly patch of skin or a white, waxy, scar-like lesion.

Many friends, fans and organizations were quick to share their well wishes with the celebrity chef in the comments section.

“Glad to hear you’re doing well, Gordon, and thanks for raising awareness of how important it is to stay safe in the sun,” the official Instagram account for Cancer Research UK wrote. “Seek shade, cover up, and apply sunscreen regularly and generously.”

“So glad you’re safe and thanks for the reminder,” fellow chef Megan Keno wrote.

“I hope you continue to recover from this,” one fan wrote.

“Love you dad,” Ramsay’s daughter, Holly Anna, also wrote. (The reality TV chef shares six kids, Megan, Holly Anna, Jack Scott, Matilda, Oscar Jamees and Jesse James with his wife, Tana Ramsay.)

Gordon’s cancer diagnosis is not the first health scare he has navigated as of late — in September 2024, the chef revealed he suffered a catastrophic bike accident.

“My life flashed before me,” Ramsay told Men’s Health UK. “[I was] traveling down the hill quite fast, no other cars involved. The front wheel went down a pothole, and the whole bike just catapulted me. I struggled to breathe. I thought I was going to pass out. Stupidly, the bike was mangled, and I put the chain back on. Then, like an idiot with adrenaline, I started f***g riding again.”

He continued, “I bent down, started tightening up my helmet, and the whole thing had split. Then I was trying to look, and I could just see a blur of vision and blood everywhere. I honestly thought I was going to pass out.”

The celebrity chef was rushed to the hospital and given a CT scan, which thankfully was negative. Still, he told the outlet the recovery process was far from easy.

“I couldn’t even put my fucking socks and pants on,” Ramsay explained at the time. “Justin, [Mandel, Ramsay’s assistant] he used to dress me in the morning. I felt like a f***g 95-year-old man. Asking a 30-year-old kid to put my f***ing underpants on was embarrassing.”
