Grammy-winning singer Ray LaMontagne collapses on stage at Nashville concert

Grammy-winning singer Ray LaMontagne collapsed on stage during his performance at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Saturday.

In a fan video from the concert, LaMontagne, 53, strummed his guitar and sang his 2004 song “Jolene” before he grunted and suddenly fell backwards to the floor.

The audience could be heard gasping during the terrifying moment, as two members of LaMontagne’s team immediately rushed to his side.

LaMontagne’s team later released a statement on his Instagram Stories with an update on the singer’s health.

“Thank you to everyone who came out to tonight’s show at the Ryman,” the message began, per Consequence. “Ray is in good hands with the local EMS and is being treated for heat related dehydration, he is doing well now and is grateful for everyone’s understanding.”

The statement added that LaMontagne “is looking forward to being onstage in Louisville tomorrow night.” 

LaMontagne performed at the Louisville Palace in Kentucky on Sunday as scheduled, but he did not address the Nashville incident.

LaMontagne is currently on his Trouble 20th Anniversary Tour, which kicked off on Aug. 23 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He has shows coming up in Philadelphia, Detroit, Boston, Portland and more, before he wraps up his tour on Oct. 3 following three concerts at New York City’s Beacon Theatre.

On the tour, LaMontagne has been performing his 2004 debut album “Trouble,” which peaked at No. 5 on the U.K. charts almost two years after its release.

He’s also been singing other music from his discography, which includes nine studio albums. His last album, “Long Way Home,” came out in August 2024.

For his fourth album, 2010’s “God Willin’ & The Creek Don’t Rise,” LaMontagne won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album in 2011.

LaMontagne announced his Trouble Tour in March 2025, telling fans he’ll be “playing the album top to tail for the first time since it was released.”

“I hope you will come out and join me and my friends and help us celebrate this moment in time,” he wrote on Instagram. “It wouldn’t be the same without you.”
