  • Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber have been married since 2018, and welcomed their first son in August 2024
  • Prior to their marriage, the “Baby” singer dated Selena Gomez off and on from 2011 until 2017
  • Fans of the two women have pitted them against each other for more than a decade

Hailey Bieber isn’t fueling feud rumors between her and Selena Gomez.

In a cover interview for WSJ. Magazine‘s Innovators Issue, published on Tuesday, Oct. 14, the 28-year-old Rhode Beauty founder told the publication that she had nothing to do with rumors that there was drama between her and the newly married pop star, 33.

“It’s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn’t ask for that,” Bieber said.

Her interview was conducted just hours ahead of Rhode launching at Sephora, where Gomez’s Rare Beauty is sold.

The “Love On” singer, who tied the knot with Benny Blanco on Sept. 27, famously dated the model’s now-husband Justin Bieber in their younger years.

“When people want to see you a certain way and they’ve made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that,” Hailey added in Tuesday’s interview.

Both women met the “Baby” singer, now 31, around 2009 when they were teens. After Gomez and Justin went public with their relationship in February 2011, Hailey tweeted her support for the couple in two since-deleted posts.

“I’m for sure 100% team #Jelena,” one tweet reportedly read.

Justin and Gomez had a couple of break-ups, and during that time, rumors that he was dating Hailey started swirling in December 2014.

Though both parties denied it at the time, approximately one year later, Justin shared a January 2016 throwback photo of him and Hailey kissing in St. Barts on New Year’s Eve 2015.

“Honestly, what I would love to be printed is that I am so beyond done with talking about that, and him,” Gomez told Rolling Stone in an interview published just one day after Justin shared the picture of the new couple.

The narratives of Hailey and the “Come & Get It” singer’s alleged feud have persisted over the years, despite both making attempts to publicly put an end to any doubt — including them posing for a photo together at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ 2nd annual gala in October 2022.

Hailey, who welcomed son Jack Blues with Justin in August 2024, previously called fan theories about her and Gomez hating each other not only “vile” and “disgusting,” but also added that it could be “really dangerous.”

“I hate it, ”Hailey told Bloomberg’s The Circuit in June 2023, adding, “I’ve hated it since the beginning and it goes back to being misunderstood. Time and time again I say there is no issue and it’s so disappointing that people still behave this way over a man.”

The model has also called out those who criticize her marriage.

“Well, I thought seven years in it would’ve already, and it hasn’t,” she told Vogue in a May profile when asked if she thought the internet chatter would eventually die down. “You would think after having a child, people would maybe move on, chill out a little bit, but no.”

Hailey added, “So I guess these bitches are going to be mad.”
