Hallmark fans will be thrilled to know why Wes Brown won’t be home for Mother’s Day.

On Thursday, May 1, PEOPLE caught up with the actor at the Connie Britton & Hallmark Channel’s The Motherhood Luncheon. The event celebrated Britton’s upcoming series, which premieres on the Hallmark Channel Monday, May 5, and streams the next day on Hallmark+.

During the event, Brown revealed how his Mother’s Day will be different this year. The actor has been married to Amanda Moye Brown since 2008, and the two share one daughter.

“Fortunately and unfortunately, but mostly, unfortunately, I won’t be here for Mother’s Day. I’ll be off for work, so I’ll be able to send a nice bouquet of flowers or something,” Brown told PEOPLE.

While he didn’t initially reveal which project he would be working on, the secret came out after PEOPLE asked him if there is a world where we get another Haul Out the Holly film.

The highly successful holiday comedy premiered in 2022 and returned with a second installment, Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up, a year later.

“There is a world. We’re about to go do the third one right now, so that’s what I’ll be missing Mother’s Day for,” Brown told PEOPLE with a laugh, noting that he “can’t wait” to “get back with that cast and that group of actual characters, literally and figuratively.”

During his conversation with PEOPLE, Brown also spoke about filming a Newport Christmas in Rhode Island with Ginna Claire Mason.

“It’s gonna be a really cool time travel piece. It’s so, so beautifully shot. And we have some new music coming out maybe along with the movie as well,” said Brown.

Mason also spoke to PEOPLE about the film, expressing that they got to shoot in “beautiful locations” and that Brown was a “dreamy costar.”

“The script is really fun and really exciting. It has a lot of twists and turns. The first time I was reading it, I was like, what happens next? So I’m really excited for that to come out this Christmas,” she said.
