Hilaria Baldwin says she and Alec Baldwin are in therapy
Hilaria Baldwin revealed that she and husband Alec Baldwin have sought the help of a therapist to navigate their steep age gap.
“I don’t believe that age is just a number, at least in our situation,” the yoga instructor, 41, told Caroline Stanbury during Wednesday’s episode of the “Uncut and Uncensored” podcast.
“There are certain things where I have to look at him and say, ‘He has 26 more years of experience,’” she added of the “30 Rock” star, 67.
“And sometimes that’s a flex, and sometimes that means that we need to do a little therapy.”
Page Six has reached out to Alec’s rep for comment.
Alec and the social media influencer married in 2012 and have since welcomed seven children — and their sizable age gap isn’t the only hurdle they’ve faced since tying the knot.
The “Baldwins” star’s challenges have included a pair of miscarriages, the accidental 2021 shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his movie “Rust,” and accusations that Hilaria faked a Spanish heritage and appropriated an accent — which she has denied, calling the accent “natural.”
When discussing how they ended up with seven young children — whose ages range from 2 to 12 — Hilaria also addressed Alec’s previous marriage to Oscar winner Kim Basinger, to whom he was married from 1993 to 2002.
“He had the very notorious, complicated situation with his previous wife and with Ireland,” she said of the actor’s 30-year-old daughter with Basinger, 71.
“I think he wanted a chance to do it in a different way and make different choices.”
Though Hilaria said their large family was “very well thought out,” she did confess to having the typical “hard moments” that can lead to time in a therapist’s office.
“Do we have our normal, marital arguments? One hundred percent,” she shared. “But it’s the desire to both want to be there and to both want to make it work. When you have that, I think you can go through anything together.”
The mom of seven also divulged that she’d experienced a loss of identity after marrying the iconic “Beetlejuice” star.
“I think in many ways, I did lose part of my identity when I married Alec,” she explained, addressing the pressure of “other people talking about me for the first time on a very massive level.”
“I posted this on my [Instagram] Stories, this woman said, ‘You need to be able to really articulate and know what your identity is, because otherwise you’re going to just get it from other people because everybody’s going to have an opinion,’” she recalled.
“And this is not a famous person who’s saying this. We’re all the same, regardless if we’re famous, not famous, whatever. We’re all flesh and blood.”
Hilaria — who was voted off “Dancing With the Stars” last month — shared that she’s come to “know” herself amid her high-profile marriage.
“I haven’t been as clear as I should have been with myself about my identity,” she said in part.
“People can say this or that. I cannot stop them,” she added.
“But I can know myself in a way that hopefully it won’t give me that nauseous pit in my stomach that I’ve experienced so many times.”
