Hilary Duff rushed daughter, 5, to ER hours before her MSG show
Hilary Duff dealt with a family medical emergency hours before she performed at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
The “Come Clean” singer told the sold-out stadium that her 5-year-old daughter, Mae, was in the ER for stitches that morning.
“My kids are here tonight,” the mother of four shared. “I can’t believe I get to show them this. We were in the ER this morning getting some stitches for my 5-year-old.”
Luckily, Duff, 38, clarified that Mae is “fine” now.
“It’s all good,” she told the crowd, adding, “but it’s very ‘our family-coded’ that I would be playing my first show at MSG and also be in the emergency room getting my kid stitched up.”
Before she resumed her concert, Duff gave Mae a quick shoutout.
“Mae Mae, you’re very brave,” she said.
Duff shares daughters Mae, Banks, 7, and Townes, 1, with husband Matthew Koma.
She’s also mom to son Luca, 14, from her marriage to ex-husband Mike Comrie.
In February, Duff explained on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast how she balances motherhood and her career.
“When you have kids, you become all consumed by them, and they get your everything,” she shared. “It was important for me to not let that be a factor, because a 2-year-old can’t decide that.”
She added, “Once you become a mom, your guilt becomes so thick.”
The “Lizzie McGuire” alum explained that she has to remind herself to “choose yourself” and still prioritize her personal passions outside of being a mom.
“I had to go drink a martini last night instead of stay home with my family,” she said with a laugh. “I’ve been working a lot and I still try to give them everything, but I had to have that dirty martini last night.”
In 2021, Duff, who had three kids at the time, admitted she “loves the mayhem” of life as a mom.
“I love when everyone’s full of energy and the house is buzzing,” she told People. “You never know what the day is going to bring or what your kid’s going to say.”
“We’re in the thick of it, and it feels good.”
Duff is currently on the US leg of her “Lucky Me” tour which ends in Michigan later this month.
Then, Duff will travel abroad for the remainder of her tour, which wraps up in Guadalajara, Mexico, in February 2027.
The pop star announced her tour earlier this year, telling her fans she felt “so lucky to be able to be onstage again.”
