Hoda Kotb has a strong relationship with books.

The former Today host, 61, opened up to Page Six about her favorite reads to mark the launch of her new book Jump and Find Joy. She loves books that are “informative, interesting and so inspirational that you can’t wait to share them with the people you love,” she told the outlet — qualities she prioritized while creating her Jump and Find Joy.

While she’s drawn toward mindful and pensive reads, the former Today host appreciates some powerful fiction as well. Discover Kotb’s favorite books below.

‘After the Rain’ by Jane Lorenzini

In this novel set in 1888 in Fort Myers, a young woman chases the opportunity to work as a gardener for Mina and Thomas Edison — in spite of a “painful childhood secret” that could ruin everything, a synopsis reads. The novel by Kotb’s “dear friend” Lorenzini — who also co-authored Jump and Find Joy — is one of the author’s two tales set in picturesque Old Florida.

‘With a Vengeance’ by Riley Sager

Set on exacting revenge for a set of murders 12 years prior, a woman invites the six people who were responsible on a luxury train trip — where “justice is waiting at journey’s end.” But when someone is found dead, the trip goes south and fast. “Sometimes a juicy mystery is just what I need as a mental teaser,” Kotb said.

‘Conversations with God’ by Neale Donald Walsch

Neal Donald Walsch’s book came about when he started writing a letter to God — and claims he got a response in return. Kotb said she always keeps a copy of this book in her bag, to “soak up the wisdom” during her day’s spare moments.

‘Gift from the Sea’ by Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Anne Morrow Lindbergh embeds wisdom and meditations on age, love, peace, solitude and fulfillment within the relaxing, picturesque setting of the sea. Captivated by its oceanic themes, Kotb also believes “its message about rest and reflection is timeless.”

‘The Untethered Soul’ by Michael A. Singer

A guide to finding inner peace and personal liberation, The Untethered Soul helps readers “stop bickering with your inner voice,” Kotb said, with “each page [leading] you toward a more peaceful mind.”

I Am Maria by Maria Shriver

Another work by one of Kotb’s friends, Maria Shriver’s memoir is her journey to finding herself and who she is outside of her romantic relationships and the Kennedy family name. “Her work is partially raw and fully relatable,” Kotb said.
