The whimsical world of Harry Potter is taking shape once again in a new audiobook series.
Pottermore Publishing and Audible announced Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, which will feature more than 200 performers across the seven books — including one actress who’s been cast in the upcoming TV adaptation of the series. The first audiobook, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, is set to debut later this year.
The cast welcomes a host of accomplished actors, including Hugh Laurie and Matthew Macfadyen as Albus Dumbledore and Lord Voldemort, respectively. Additionally, Riz Ahmed and Michelle Gomez will voice Professor Snape and Professor McGonagall, and Cush Jumbo will be the voice of the books’ narrator.
Laurie shared he’s “deeply conscious of previous drivers” of Dumbledore and hopes to do the character justice.
“I’m honored to have been trusted with the keys to Albus Dumbledore, and thrilled to be able to take him around the track of this beautiful incarnation by Pottermore and Audible,” he said.
For the first three books, Frankie Treadway will voice Harry Potter; Max Lester will voice Ron Weasley; and Arabella Stanton — who plays Hermione Granger in the upcoming series adaptation — will take on the same role in the audiobooks.
From the fourth audiobook on, Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan and Nina Barker-Francis will take over the roles of Harry, Ron and Hermione, respectively.
