How Amanda Seyfried, Thomas Sadoski’s ‘dynamic shifted’ before split news
Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski reportedly “drifted apart” due to her busy acting career before news of their split broke this week.
“Thomas, for the past few years, was left at home with the kids so he worked less and less. The dynamic shifted,” a source told the Daily Mail on Thursday.
The insider claimed the “Mean Girls” star, 40, became “the worker bee of the family,” while Sadoski, 50, “was stuck with the young kids on the farm in upstate New York.”
“He was isolated,” the source continued of Sadoski, adding, “It’s not the best feeling for a man, especially for someone like Thomas, who is a very good actor and respected in the theater world and in TV, he had a big career.”
“He has a Tony,” the insider also noted. “He really gave up a lot to be with Amanda.”
Seyfried’s commitment to her job was evident last year, when she appeared in two films, “The Testament of Ann Lee” and “The Housemaid,” and one TV series, Peacock’s “Long Bright River.”
Due to Seyfried’s schedule, the former couple — who eloped in 2017, and share daughter Nina, 9, and son Thomas, 5 — have allegedly “been more friends than lovers” for the past year.
“They have drifted apart, but the friendship is still there,” the insider claimed. “They will always be close because of the children.”
Additionally, the source alleged that Seyfried and Sadoski separated at least six months ago amidst the “gradual decline” in their relationship.
However, the insider claimed they’ve “kept things very civil and have been geniuses about co-parenting.”
Page Six has reached out to Seyfried and Sadoski’s reps for comment.
Seyfried and Sadoski confirmed on Tuesday that they split after nine years of marriage.
“We have been separated for a while, and it’s proven to be the right move for us and our family unit. We’ve got each other forever — and it’s GOOD,” they shared in a statement to People
The pair first met in 2015, when they starred together in the off-Broadway play “The Way We Get By.” They also co-starred in the 2017 film “The Last Word.”
In November 2025, Seyfried admitted it was “really hard” to balance raising their two children with her acting career.
“This is the most I’ve ever worked with two kids, and I’ve never had two movies come out at the same time,” she told Us Weekly, referring to her two 2025 films.
“And so, I’m a little bit bananas right now,” she added.
