How Leonardo DiCaprio kept his A-list 50th birthday extra private
Leonardo DiCaprio figured out a clever way to keep his starry 50th birthday extra private on Saturday night.
Sources tell Page Six that the “Titanic” star got his 500 guests at the party to cover the cameras on their phones with stickers from Hollywood’s most exclusive members club, San Vicente Bungalows.
A spy said that party organizers had 700 stickers ready to go if needed.
We hear that a number of attendees from the earlier super starry Baby2Baby gala headed to DiCaprio’s birthday afterward. An insider tells us: “Basically, the Baby2Baby group all went to Leo’s after.”
San Vicente Bungalows is known for its heavily guarded privacy and its A-list guests including DiCaprio, Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle, Jennifer Aniston, Miley Cyrus, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Sydney Sweeney, Zoë Kravitz and many more.
We reported that DiCaprio’s 50th bash had famous attendees, including director Steven Spielberg, Robert De Niro, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” actor Brad Pitt, Katy Perry and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, Dr. Dre and many more.
A spy told us that guests’ phones were covered with the San Vicente Bungalows stickers.
No footage from inside the party leaked, though paparazzi snapped photos of guests in their cars, including Anderson .Paak, Paris Hilton, Robin Thicke, Edward Norton, Benicio del Toro and model Cara Delevingne.
DiCaprio’s actual birthday is Nov. 11.
A spy exclusively told Page Six that at the bash held at a private Hollywood Hills estate, “DJ Meel spun late into the night” and that a special cake was served and Telmont champagne flowed.
Also in attendance was the “Wolf of Wall Street” actor’s dad, George DiCaprio, with stepmother Peggy, and mom, Irmelin DiCaprio, with her husband, David Ward.
San Vicente Bungalows in West Hollywood prizes its privacy with strict rules against cellphones, photos and the like. We reported back in 2012 that the club’s newsletter revealed it had to “terminate” a member who blabbed about the Biebers being at the club, tipping off paparazzi.
The club’s new newsletter, seen by Page Six at the time, cautioned, “We wanted to take a moment to remind you of the following Club policies, which we take very seriously: No photography/videography of any kind is permitted on the Club premises or surrounding areas,” and “No posting on social media or discussion about the club, its Members and their guests, or Club activities is permitted.”
The club is expected to open a highly anticipated West Village branch in NYC soon. Its owner, Jeff Klein, is also behind the vaunted Sunset Tower.
A source told us of the NYC version, “Like everything at San Vicente, the signs on the construction site are shrouded in secrecy. There is no website for San Vicente West Village, no Instagram and no way for ‘a normal person’ to apply — or even know what San Vicente is.”
Chic English designer Rose Uniacke has been working on the space at the former Jane Hotel.
