The Hunger Games: On Stage has found its Katniss Everdeen.

On Tuesday, July 29, the Instagram account for the first-ever live stage adaptation of The Hunger Games announced that Mia Carragher will take on the role of the crossbow-wielding protagonist previously played by Jennifer Lawrence in the film franchise. The production is based on Suzanne Collins’ beloved book and will open in London, on Oct. 20.

“I’m really excited to play Katniss. I relate to her quite a lot,” Carragher, 20, said in a video shared on social media, where she previewed her archery skills. “I think she’s very fearless, but then she’s also got that nurturing quality about her.”

She added, “Everyone needs to come and watch The Hunger Games: On Stage because it’s going to be nothing like you’ve ever seen.”

Carragher is the daughter of English football analyst and former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher. The young actress previously appeared in One Night in Istanbul and the U.K’s Channel 4 series The Gathering. Along with her stage work, Carragher will also be seen alongside Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson in the comedy Let’s Love, which also stars Martin Freeman and Malin Akerman.

The actress’ famous father celebrated his daughter’s casting on Instagram, writing, “I’m bursting with pride with you being the first on stage Katniss Everdeen @miacarragher 🔥🏹 You’ve put so much work in over so many years to land such an amazing role, you deserve this babe 😘 I can’t wait to come & watch @thehungergamesonstage it’s going to be amazing.”

The Hunger Games follows Katniss Everdeen, a 16-year-old girl living in a future society called Panem. Every year, the nation’s Capitol selects a boy and a girl from each of its 12 districts to fight to the death in a televised event, called the Hunger Games, until only one remains. When Katniss’ sister Prim is selected, the archer volunteers as tribute in Prim’s place. But as she battles to survive in the deadly arena, Katniss unexpectedly becomes a symbol of rebellion and defiance against the Capitol’s oppressive rule.
