Iggy Pop knows how to make an exit.
During his current tour that travels throughout several countries this summer, Iggy, 78, exited his UK concert via a coffin being rolled out and him stepping into it. The rock star asked fans to propose some of their best captions for the deadly hilarious but on Instagram on May 30.
“LONDON We know how it started and this is how it ended. Would love to see some splendid and witty captions for this one! ⚰️,” he wrote below the video which features “The Passenger” being played in the background.
The Godfather of Punk also shared the clip on X, writing: “London was a hoot! How you exit is equally important to how you enter.”

Fans humored the “Fun House” singer with their best lines. “Lust for AfterLIFE,” one wrote, referring to the 1977 song. “When death knocks but you’re Iggy Pop,” another chimed in. “the timeless icon arises again!” a third praised him.
“Still shirtless after all these years,” someone else joked, referring to the singer’s wardrobe choice — or lack thereof.
Others posted their thoughts on the concert. “All I can say is I’ve never laughed so much at the end of the gig. Every one was laughing, smiling waving and cheering it was just so brilliant ⚰️👋🏻”
“How do you make waving out a coffin look so wholesome,” someone else wondered.
“He is and remains an icon! No one can top him! ❤️,” a third wrote of the musician, who has been in the industry for over 50 years.
Up next for the Grammy-nominated artist is concerts throughout Europe, North America and South America, including Madrid, Hamburg, Dublin, Berlin, Portland, Ore., Redmond, Wash., and wrapping things up in Buenos Aires on Sept. 12.
Iggy told Rolling Stone in May that he doesn’t plan on retiring anytime soon. “I’m just somebody who’s lucky that I found something to do when I was a pre-teen and I can still do it,” he said.
However, in 2023, he did announce his retirement from stage diving during an interview with Billboard. “I’m not doing that right now. I hit my limit,” said Iggy of the risky performance move.
“I did about 40 shows last year and I crossed over [into the audience] a few times, but not with a full dive. A couple of times I sorta fell in and a couple of times I walked around, but if I don’t have to, I prefer to stay on the stage. It’s too much wear and tear at this point. I would get hurt.”
“So I prefer to stay on the stage, but now at some of the shows people do it themselves; they leap up, touch toe, do a grab and dive off. That’s cool with me.”
