iHeart security keeps K. Michelle, Angela Yee apart as decade-old ‘Breakfast Club’ beef simmers
Looks like someone ordered beef for breakfast.
Page Six hears that when singer K. Michelle came by iHeartRadio Manhattan HQ this week, staff were told to keep Michelle and radio host Angela Yee apart because of their long-running feud.
The tension dates back to a fiery 2016 “Breakfast Club” interview, shortly after K. Michelle released her album “More Issues Than Vogue.”
During the appearance, the singer confronted Yee about crude comments made by rappers Maino and Uncle Murda, who had discussed a rumor about K. Michelle’s intimate hygiene when they had appeared on the show a few weeks earlier.
Michelle claimed that Yee had brought up the aromatic allegations, giving new life to the mean barbs.
A palpably angry Michelle jabbed a finger in Yee’s direction, claimed that the rehashed hate could have derailed the promotion for the album, and told Yee, “It was wrong, it was inappropriate and you didn’t think.”
And it seems that when Michelle visited the studios Wednesday to appear on the “Breakfast Club,” the network was taking no chances on the beef sizzling again.
Yee now has her own show right after the “Breakfast Club,” and a source tells Page Six that when Michelle, who just announced her new country album “Jesus & Whiskey,” arrived at the Midtown offices, staff were told to keep pair apart.
We’re told they put Michelle in a different green room from the one “Breakfast Show” guests typically use so that she would be further away from Yee’s studio.
Yee has maintained that she never intended to embarrass the singer, and later said she chose not to escalate the confrontation with her on the air because she didn’t think arguing would accomplish anything.
If Wednesday’s backstage logistics are any indication, iHeart wasn’t interested in finding out whether time had healed old wounds.
A rep for iHeart told us, “There were no security requests from either party, and they did not see each other while at the iHeart studios.”
Page Six has reached out to both women.
