Inside Kate Middleton’s intimate 44th birthday lunch with sister Pippa and mom Carole
Kate Middleton celebrated her recent birthday with an intimate lunch with her sister, Pippa Matthews, and their mom, Carole Middleton.
To ring in her 44th year, Kate enjoyed a meal with Matthews, 42, and Carole, 70, at a French bistro in England’s Berkshire called the Funghi Club.
“Every now and then something happens that sends a little fizz of excitement through the whole place and this week delivered a corker,” the restaurant gushed in a Facebook post.
“Last Friday, in our teeny Hungerford Bistro, we had the enormous pleasure of welcoming a rather extraordinary guest. We can already hear the chorus from Newbury: ‘Go on then… who was it?’”
The post went on to reveal that their special patron was “none other than the Princess of Wales herself,” who grew up in the county.
“Berkshire’s very own Kate Middleton, celebrating her 44th birthday, joined by her mother Carole and sister Pippa. Right here in Hungerford.”
The post noted that while the team had “no photos to share” of the private gathering, every employee who was working that day “reported the same thing: [Kate] was utterly charming, gracious and every bit as radiant in person as you’d imagine.
“The jungle drums of Hungerford didn’t stop beating until well into Saturday. A little moment of magic for our small bistro — and one we won’t forget in a hurry.”
The post concluded with a “Happy Birthday ” message to Kate.
The wife of Prince William — who announced her cancer diagnosis in March 2024 — began her birthday celebrations by sharing a “deeply personal” message about healing after her “coldest, darkest season.”
Posting on Instagram a serene video of her walking through nature, Kate was heard saying, “Winter has a way of bringing us stillness, patience and quiet consideration. Where the stream slows just enough for us to see our own reflection, to discover the deepest parts of ourselves alongside the whispers and the pulse of every living thing.”
The mother of three — who revealed in January 2025 that her cancer was in remission — noted that she’s found herself “reflecting on how deeply grateful” she is.
“The rivers within us flow with ease, fears washed away [as they] cleanse and purify. [We] come to peace with our tears and discover what it means to be alive — to be at one with nature,” she said.
Kate — who shares Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, with William, 43 — concluded by branding nature “a quiet teacher and a soft voice that guides in memory, helping us to heal.”
