Megan McKenna and her fiancé Oliver Burke have shared that they are expecting a baby together, with the couple having announced the news on social media this week.
The singer-songwriter, 31, and the footballer, 26, told their followers on Instagram about the pregnancy in a joint post that was uploaded on Thursday. It included a compilation video that featured various clips of Megan and Oliver.
Footage showed the couple cuddling in a bathroom after taking two pregnancy tests that were shown to be positive, for example. Megan was also seen at an ultrasound, whilst another clip showed her holding up scan photos in their car.
Megan – who’s been on shows like The Only Way is Essex – and her fiancé Oliver wrote in the caption: “A little bit of you & a little bit of me… now we’re a family.” She had teased to her fans: “We’ve been keeping a little secret from you all.”
It’s been noted that Megan has worn ‘oversized’ and ‘baggy’ clothing in posts that she has shared on the platform in recent weeks, including jumpers, hoodies and dressing gowns, potentially hiding her growing baby bump.
The Sun reports that there were other ‘clues’ too like that she had rarely appeared in full-length photos or videos. Fans have also questioned her portions in recent months, with Megan having posted various food-related content. The outlet adds that she may have been distracting fans and that Oliver had his arms wrapped around her stomach in some content.
Megan and Oliver – who plays for Birmingham City at the moment – have been together for more than a year. It’s unclear when they began dating but they are understood to have gone public with their romance in March last year. She notably shared photos of them enjoying a trip to Paris together that month and teased in the caption that Oliver was the “perfect person”. Megan wrote on the platform at the time: “The perfect trip with the perfect person.”
The following month, she spoke to OK! magazine about the relationship. The outlet asked the former reality TV star how she had met her partner, with Megan explaining in response that her and footballer Oliver have “mutual friends”. She added: “Our first date was just so lovely – we’ve been inseparable ever since. We literally do everything together and I’m so happy. He’s such a lovely person and I’m really positive about everything – my life and my relationship.”
That same month, she paid tribute to Oliver for his birthday. Megan wrote for the special occasion in April last year: “From the moment I met you I knew it was a 4ever thing. Happy birthday to the most incredible person I know.”
Oliver has since suggested that the pair met on New Year’s Eve in 2022. Celebrating the latest New Year, he wrote in a post on the platform just three months ago: “Happy New Year my love, to think last NYE we’d only just met.”
The couple got engaged just months after going public with their relationship. Their engagement was announced in June last year, with Oliver having proposed to Megan whilst they were on holiday together in Montenegro that month.
Sharing footage on Instagram, Megan wrote: “YES YES YES a thousand times YES. You have opened up a world I never thought was possible.” She further commented: “I love you Oliver Burke… here’s to forever my future husband.”
As reminded by OK! magazine recently, the video showed Megan blindfolded on a boat trip, before Oliver guided them to a surprise location. She was taken to a beach where a sign spelt out ‘marry me’ alongside a heart. Megan soon took off her blindfold and Oliver proposed, with him presenting her with a ring before they embraced.
