Jack Osbourne admitted he and sister Aimee are ‘not close at all’ days before dad Ozzy’s death
Jack Osbourne admitted that he and his sister Aimee are estranged just days before their dad Ozzy’s tragic death.
“We’re not close at all,” Jack, 39, shared on the July 16 episode of the “Disrespectfully” podcast co-hosted by Katie Maloney and Dayna Kathan.
“We don’t have a great relationship. She’ll be the first to tell you that. So, it’s no secret.”
Aimee, 41, has maintained a very private life after choosing not to appear on the MTV reality show “The Osbournes” with the rest of her family.
When asked about his older sister’s decision to stay away from the cameras, Jack said that at the time she wanted to be an “obscure, mysterious, moody” musician so appearing on the reality show wouldn’t have aligned with that image.
“She deemed doing a show on MTV as low-hanging fruit, and she was like, ‘I’m not going to be seen riding coattails.’ That’s how she perceived it,” the father of four explained.
“Once the show was hugely successful, I think she was like, ‘I can’t now come on, because I don’t want to be seen even more as jumping on the bandwagon.’ So she just dug her heels in and wanted to be relatively private and obscure.”
Aimee moved out of her family’s house at just 16 to avoid the cameras. Her mom, Sharon, admitted in 2018 that she deeply regrets allowing Aimee to leave.
“She felt too that she didn’t want to grow up on camera. She hated the idea. It was appalling to her,” Sharon, 72, said at the time.
“And so she left at 16 and I regret every day that she did,” the “Talk” alum continued, adding, “She was happy but it broke my heart when she moved.”
Aimee’s younger sister, Kelly, has also spoken out about their estrangement, saying in 2021 that they “don’t talk.”
“We’re just really different,” Kelly said on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast. “She doesn’t understand me, and I don’t understand her.”
Aimee — who’s rarely seen out and about — had her first public reunion with her siblings in years at Ozzy’s funeral procession where the family put on a united front.
Each of the siblings paid tribute to their father with meaningful jewelry and accessories. Aimee wore a bat brooch, referencing the time Ozzy famously bit the head off a bat during a show in 1982.
The Black Sabbath frontman died on July 22 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and “life-altering” injuries.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the family announced in a statement obtained by Page Six.
“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
