Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s son, Cruz, 3, diagnosed with autism

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s son, Cruz, has autism.
The “Vanderpump Rules” alums’ 3-year-old was diagnosed in the fall of 2024 by his developmental pediatrician.
Although Cartwright, 36, told People in an interview published Wednesday that she was “expecting” the news, Cruz’s condition now feels more “real.”
She and her estranged husband “started noticing that [Cruz] was regressing in his speech” ahead of his 2nd birthday — and he has since “stopped talking almost completely.”
While going to speech and occupational therapy, which was documented on “The Valley,” the toddler is primarily nonverbal but does “sporadically say different words,” including “Mommy.”
Cartwright admitted, “It can be difficult because I’ve never heard him say, ‘I love you.’”
However, she gushed that her son is “so loving” and displays his love for her “every single day” while calling him her “better half,” “little partner in crime” and “love of [her] life.”
The Bravolebrity explained, “He is everything to me, and even though he can’t talk, I know everything that he wants, everything that he needs. We’re just so synced; it’s incredible.”
While Cartwright finds Cruz’s diagnosis “challenging,” she feels “meant to be his mom” and does not believe his autism will lead to “any limitations in what he can do.”
The reality star is currently helping Cruz “build … his brain” with an at-home sensory room, a therapeutic companion for preschool and therapy multiple times a week.
“I’m just trying to do everything I possibly can to help him live the happiest life ever,” she told the magazine. “I just make sure that he never misses a class, never misses a therapy session.”
Cartwright gave birth to the little one in April 2021 and announced her separation from Taylor, 45, nearly three years later.
She filed for divorce in August 2024, with her ex granting her full custody of Cruz the following month.
Since Taylor’s split from Cartwright, the self-proclaimed “narcissist” has revealed his own diagnoses — bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder — as well as his sobriety from a cocaine addiction.
Cartwright briefly referenced Taylor in Tuesday’s interview, saying, “Sometimes Jax will take [Cruz to therapy]. I want him to learn things as well, but the majority of the time, it’s me.”
