Jay Leno and wife Mavis enjoy date night at comedy club as she struggles with dementia

Jay Leno and his wife, Mavis Leno, stepped out for a date night amid her ongoing battle with dementia.
The former “Tonight Show” host and his other half were spotted at a Hollywood Improv comedy show in West Hollywood, Calif., Wednesday night.
They appeared in good spirits while leaving the comedy club hand-in-hand.
Jay, 73, wore a dark gray blazer, a white button-down shirt, jeans and black shoes for the outing, while Mavis, 77, styled a blue satin long-sleeve shirt, jeans and sneakers.
The couple’s outing comes days after the philanthropist’s court-appointed counsel, Ronald Ostrin, claimed his client “sometimes does not know her husband … nor her date of birth” in a report related to the TV personality’s conservatorship petition.
Court documents obtained by Page Six revealed that Ostrin claimed that Mavis “has a lot of disorientation” and occasionally “will ruminate about her parents who have both passed.”
Despite her woes, Ostrin described Mavis as “a delightful person,” noting she can still communicate.
“She expressed a desire to vote and told me a little about her philanthropic work,” he wrote in the docs.
Ostrin insisted that Mavis and Jay “have a long-term, loving and supportive relationship” and she is in a “safe” environment, adding, “Ms. Leno seemed very happy in their cozy environment.”
“She reposed great faith and confidence in Mr. Leno and relied on him for her protection and guidance,” he continued. He added Mavis is also on board with her husband’s conservatorship filing.
In January, the comedian filed for conservatorship over his wife, in an attempt to set up a living trust for her in case anything happened to him.
“Jay desires to execute an estate plan, including a revocable trust and will, which will provide for Mavis and Mavis’s brother and her sole living heir aside from Jay,” documents previously obtained by Page Six read.
It’s unclear when Mavis was diagnosed with dementia but Jay told the Daily Mail in January that she was “doing well” amid the news of her condition getting out.
The two wed in 1980 and never had any kids.
A hearing for Mavis’ conservatorship case is set for April 9.
