Jelly Roll denies wife Bunnie Xo is a ‘gold digger’
Jelly Roll has confessed that if anybody is a “gold digger” in his marriage to Bunnie Xo, it’s him.
“I love it when they call her a gold digger,” the “Save Me” hitmaker told Taste of Country Nights in a recent interview, admitting that “She hates it.”
“It just flames her up,” he continued. “But it just tickles me absolutely pink because when I met her, I was homeless living out of a 1996 conversion van, so if anyone was digging for gold it was I, Popeye.”
He quipped, “I was couch surfing and made it to the bedroom, ya know?”
The “I Am Not Okay” singer, 41, and his wife have seen their share of troubles since marrying back in 2016. Earlier this year, he was rushed to the hospital after breaking his collarbone in an ATV accident.
He didn’t share news of the injury until earlier this month, and his wife was clearly upset by the incident.
“This happened in January, worst phone call to ever get,” Bunnie Xo, 46, captioned an Instagram upload of the Grammy winner lying in a hospital bed in a neck brace. “But we got thru it thank goodness & he’s healed completely.”
Bunnie Xo has also shared in recent months the impact Jelly Roll’s past cheating had on his longtime marriage to the bombshell influencer.
She recalls becoming “depressed” when the hitmaker moved out of their Nashville home with his daughter, Bailee, from a previous relationship — following a fight — in her memoir “Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic,” released last month.
He then became “irate” after his wife, who suspected an affair, attended one of his local concerts unannounced. Despite his denials of an affair, the podcaster — whose real name is Alisa DeFord — later learned that “he had his ex-fling waiting for him in a hotel down the street.”
The wife of Jelly Roll’s best friend ultimately confirmed that evening that he was indeed involved with another woman.
“She’d confirmed all the suspicions and fears I’d felt for the past ten months,” Bunnie writes, adding that she decided to move back to Las Vegas amid the drama.
“That night I contemplated taking my life,” she further writes. “The pain was so intense that I genuinely just wanted to end it all.”
Later, she writes, she “took a deep breath. Tomorrow is a new day. Time to get the f–k out of here.”
When it was all said and done, Bunnie Xo said what hurt her most was Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, “emotionally cheating” — including getting the mistress a house.
She ultimately decided to forgive the singer. “It would take years for me to put the affair aside,” she writes in the memoir. “It would take years to actually feel like this man loved me—that I wasn’t disposable.”
During an October episode of the “Human School” podcast, the singer admitted that the affair was “one of the worst moments of my adulthood.”
However, he said, “The repair has been special. And we’re stronger than we could have ever been.”
