Jelly Roll Says He Has the ‘Sex Drive of a 17-Year-Old Again’ After Weight Loss: ‘I’m F—ing Pouncing on My Wife’

Things have changed in the bedroom for Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo.

The “Save Me” singer, 41, spoke to Men’s Health for a new cover story interview and short-form documentary about his weight loss journey, having lost 275 lbs. over the past five years, and how it’s helped his sex life.

“I feel like I’m a teenager, dog,” said Jelly, who’s gone from 540 lbs. to 265 lbs. “I have the sex drive of a 17-year-old again. I’m f—ing pouncing on my wife. We’re having daytime sex again. It’s f—ing awesome.”

The root cause of his inability to get aroused, he explained, was his hormones.

“My testosterone level — and I’m cool to talk about this openly — was of a preteen boy,” Jelly Roll said. “When I went in there for the test, it was bad. Bad. The world opened up when I seen it on paper. I was like, ‘That’s my testosterone level? I mean, dude, we’re talking a 57. You can’t get it up without T. I was married to a smoke show, and I was still struggling…. The first couple of blood panels were like, ‘How are you alive?’ Now it’s a totally different thing.”

In addition to having more sex with Bunnie, the couple can now sleep in the same bed together again. “I was so fat that there came a moment in life that my wife and I had to put two queen beds beside each other because we couldn’t fit in a king bed anymore, I was just all over,” said the country star.

Jelly — real name Jason DeFord — now looks back on aspects of the last few years of his career, which saw him rise to mainstream fame with songs like “Need a Favor” and earn a Grammy nomination, in disbelief.

“It’s almost to the point where I look back now and I can’t believe that I was able to perform, that I was on national television, and that I was on stages and doing a hundred-something shows a year,” he explained. “Like, you know, I was killing myself, literally.”

“I mean, I was eating myself to absolute death….I can’t talk about one area of my life it was not affecting,” continued Jelly, detailing the not-so-glamorous parts of his life before losing weight.

“It’s as disgusting as you imagine, when I really look back at it. I was struggling to wipe my ass. You know what I mean? Like, I’m ashamed of it,” he said.

Jelly added, “When I think of it being disgusting, I feel shame again. And shame is the exact same thing that will send me right back into the pantry. It’s the same thing that sends an alcoholic right back to the bar.”

Elsewhere in the interview, he further compared his “full-blown food addiction” to consuming copious amounts of alcohol and drugs. “I see that now, like, really clearly,” said the artist.

“I mean, it checked all the boxes of my cocaine addiction when I was hiding it, because obviously I was so ashamed of it,” noted Jelly, who said his face tattoos were “another way of covering up stuff.”

“What I needed to cover up was inside. That’s what brought me to mental health. I got some real therapy done. I really went and tried to understand, when did I start eating this?”
